-I was born and raised in the South, but people are often surprised to learn that, mostly because I don't have an accent. I think my lack of accent bothers my family too.
-I am somewhat shy around people I don't know, especially if I'm trying to impress them.
-I really enjoy hosting parties, in part to spend time with my wonderful friends, but also to introduce them to each other. I know some great people.
-I spend way too much time on wikipedia. I can't help it. There are just so many interesting things to read about.
-I'm the analytical type. It not good for me sometimes, but I wouldn't give it up for the world.
-I often watch movies with a laptop nearby, browser opened to imdb.
-I like good beer.
-I could spend hours in a good used-book store. I immediately go to the drama section to look for cheap plays, since they are overpriced when new.
-I spent about a minute wondering whether I needed to hyphenate "used-book store," eventually deciding that if I didn't, some of you might think that I was talking about a previously-owned bookstore.
-I am a comedy nerd. I love listening to comedy albums, watching film and tv comedies, and watching live stand-up when I can afford it. I love making jokes and puns. I love making people laugh, and I love it when people make me laugh.
-I think of conversation like tennis. It is more fun when you can get a nice long rally going. (This analogy may be bad, because it seems like I want to win conversations. I am actually not a very competitive person.)
-I wish I had a southern accent.

For the last several years, I have been studying the genetics of fruit fly early development. Currently, I am job-hunting, using wikipedia to learn about pickpocketing (not quite as bad as using the dictionary to learn about money-laundering), and planning my triumphant return to society.

I try to live my life by one simple rule: What would George Plimpton do? (Throw a party!)
