I am kind, happy, and slightly nuts.
My Self-Summary
I love exploring, being outdoors, and moving. Being stuck behind a
desk all day pressing keys amplifies my need to travel and discover
new things.
I am into cycling, motorcycling, hiking, camping, skiing, good
food, and just having a fun time with great people.
By nature I am an inquisitive and mathematical person, I like to
tinker with, understand, and fix things. For work I do this with
1's and 0's on a computer, and in real life I might fix a friends
bicycle brakes or something equally fun.
What I’m doing with my life
I've been living in the Bay Area for 8 years, and love it
here.
In my previous life I grew up in a small village in England,
escaped to university and studied Physics at Oxford. After a couple
of years working in London, I escaped to live and work in the San
Francsico area.
Although I miss my family, and go back to see them as often as I
can, I am not planning to leave San Francisco. The people are
generally very open minded and fun, and I love the energy of the
city. At the same time we are close to beautiful mountains, and
have great weather. What's not to like?
I am happy in my job. Although I've been doing software for 11
years, there is always a new technology to learn and that keeps
things interesting and lets me push myself to understand new
things. Depending on the project there is also the chance to
travel, present at conferences and work with other companies, so it
keeps things changing up.
I’m really good at
Being a good friend. I am fiercely loyal and really value the same
in other people. A friend in need is a friend indeed.
Traveling. I am never happier than when on the move, and I tend to
do well around others who are like minded.
Taking your car apart, and putting it back together again, getting
pretty oily in the process.
The first things people usually notice about me
I am pretty down to earth
I try to smile at everyone I meet
I am pretty straightforward and honest
I always seem to be doing something
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books - my favorites are Biographies of people I respect. I like to
read of the experiences that shaped them and inspired them, and the
challenges they faced. I like Harry Potter too :-).
Movies - James Bond or Hollywood for fun, Foreign films for
something more moving.
Music - I have a very eclectic taste, from Hip Hop to Manu Chao,
via The Beatles, and back to cheesy 80's & 90's pop.
Food - Again, an eclectic taste, Sushi, steak, Thai, Italian,
Mediterranean, but my favorite is French.
The six things I could never do without
1. Good friends and family.
2. Freedom.
3. Health.
4. A bicycle.
5. Humor.
6. Twix bars.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The future
Traveling
Friends & Family
The weekend
The environment
Poverty
On a typical Friday night I am
Starting the weekend. That might be meeting good friends, getting
my motorcycle ready for a trip, or cleaning my apartment for
friends to stay over.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
is that I am not really a private person. If you'd like to know
something, get to know me and ask.
You should message me if
you are a kind and positive person who likes to get out and
explore, and would like to meet and chat over a coffee to see if we
might be a good match.
Ethnicity does not matter to me, or physical attributes, as long as
there is attraction on both sides.
If you love the outdoors, learning new things, and discovering
places, I'd love to meet you.
