My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
About me, basic stats: I'm 42 and have never been married, though I was in a twelve year relationship. I have one grown daughter, not living at home. I have a dog, an adorable basset hound named Charlie Barker; he's a Bird dog. I'm heavily into Rudolf Steiner and Anthroposophy. I love music, reading, movies, and taking my pup on twice-daily walks, longer ones in the Summer. I have re-joined a gym recently and have been enjoying being more physically active. I'm socially introverted but loosen up (a bit) with family and friends. For students of the Four Temperaments, I am of the Melancholic persuasion. I'm kind of serious in my outlook and demeanor but I also have a good sense of humor.

Important note: Not into sports! Not at all, not a bit. Also not into people with conservative politics. I'm a non-drinking former smoker, having given both up between ten and twenty years ago.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Professionally, I'm self-employed as a screen printer, consisting of custom work and an ebay retail store; I've been doing that for about ten years. More importantly, I'm striving for spiritual and psychological self-development.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I express myself very clearly. I also make a great effort at being non-judgmental and fair-minded. I don't always succeed, but the intent is there.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Some of the things I've heard are, "Wow, you're tall!", "Hold on, let me get my thesaurus so I can tell what hell you're talking about", and "Your shoes are size FIFTEEN?!"
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Piles of Rudolf Steiner (I'm into Anthroposophy), Lord Of the Rings, Mark Twain, Noam Chomsky (though I've probably read enough Chomsky for awhile), recently read The Picture Of Dorian Gray, John Taylor Gatto. For periodicals I read The Nation, The Progressive, EXTRA!, Vanity Fair. During the Bush years I read a LOT of political material but I think I burned myself out on politics to a degree; the problems are so huge that thinking about them all the time is exhausting.

Podcasts: WTF, Filmspotting, The Treatment, Left, Right & Center, Slate Culture Gabfest, Democracy Now! (occasionally), Nerdist.

Movies: My favorites over the years would include most middle-period Woody Allen, Boogie Nights, Robert Altman, Kubrick, Scorsese, Coen brothers, etc. My tastes are pretty inclusive overall and I like all sorts of drama, thrillers, comedies, and indies as long as they're smart.

TV: Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Girls, Stewart/Colbert, Walking Dead, Game Of Thrones (bit of a guilty pleasure, that last one). Favorite shows off-the-air include The Wire, Homicide, Larry Sanders Show, Seinfeld - I could go on, but there's an idea of my tastes.

Music! Where to start? Umphrey's McGee, Frank Zappa, Beethoven, Bach, Wagner, Van Halen, The Cars, The Beatles, The Who, The Aristocrats, Jethro Tull. In jazz it's Oscar Peterson, Ahmad Jamal, Milt Jackson, Gary Burton, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Ellington, Lee Morgan, Clifford Brown. I'm kind of all over the place, but it works for me. I've seen Umphrey's live seven times in the last couple years and would like to keep going to more shows.

And I'm not into sports at all. Not even a little bit.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Whether I'm living up to my self-expectations: the answer is usually 'No', but I'm working on it. I think a lot about trying to strip away the non-essential parts of myself to get at what and who I really am: again, working on it. ;)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At home watching a movie or noodling on a guitar or at a movie with a family member.
