I am artistic, intelligent, and fun.

My Self-Summary

This is still a work in progress (right now it's at the listy stage...)! I'm into rock climbing, brunch (as detailed below), photography, life drawing, potentially re-learning how to play the piano, string quartets, propaganda art, Swiss graphic design, typography, art galleries, yoga, inquisitiveness, random learning, Wikipedia, TED talks, This American Life podcasts, maps, morning crosswords, wandering, Montréal, TIFF, environmental/ green initiatives, farming, indoor gardening (a cantaloupe is blooming in my front window), weeds/wildflowers, urban planning, German block housing, NYC Queensbridge housing, organization, bike rides, abandoned spaces, RSS feeds, open source software, fog, naps, and more may be forthcoming...

What I’m doing with my life

I'm exploring new photographic realms, developing my abilities as a generic drug crusader (aka scientific consultant) and contemplating re-learning how to play the piano.

The first things people usually notice about me

I look like Sarah Polley!

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

books: Franz Kafka "The Penal Colony" (and others),Haruki Murakami "Kafka On The Shore" (and most of his other novels), Alexander Portnoy's "Portnoy's Complaint," Roald Dahl, David H. Pinkney "Napoleon III and the Rebuilding of Paris." The last couple books I read were Philip Roth's "Indignation" (because I owed him some attribution) and Margaret Atwood's "The Year of the Flood," and my current reads are Arika Okrent's "In The Land Of Invented Languages," Margaret Atwood's "Payback" and likely Jane Smiley's "Moo."

artists: Maurizio Cattelan, Kozyndan, Edward Burtynsky, Gregory Crewdson, Yoshitomo Nara, and Seonna Hong.

movies: Michelange Quay's "Eat For This Is My Body," Anders Thomas Jensen's "The Green Butchers," "Napoleon Dynamite," Don McKeller's "Last Night," Jean-Pierre Jeunet's "Delicatessen," Wes Anderson films, Studio Ghibli anime, and such TV shows as: Arrested Development, The Office, Lost, Flight of the Conchords, and Twitch City (but don't actually watch much TV).

music: Amon Tobin, Apostle of Hustle, Architecture in Helsinki, Belle & Sebastian, Andrew Bird, The Books, Jeff Buckley, Calexico, Cinematic Orchestra, CocoRosie, Death Cab For Cutie, DJ Shadow, French Kicks, Four Tet, The Hidden Cameras, Hot Chip, Iron & Wine, Keane, Lady Gaga, M83, Miles Davis, My Brightest Diamond, Of Montreal, Pony Up!, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss (Rising Sand), Shostakovich (string quartets), Elliott Smith, John Southworth, The Stars, Sufjan Stevens, Tangiers, Chad Vangaalen, Patrick Watson, Wax Mannequin, Hawksley Workman, Maxim Vengerov, Yo La Tengo

food: brunch (of the eggs benedict/florentine and french toast varieties), soy chai lattes, homemade brownies, Malasian yellow curry, and gelato from Dolce
