My self-summary
I was born and raised in Miami but have been living Philly since the summer of '13. I'm a Social Studies teacher by trade, which is a perfect fit for a ginormous nerd like me. I'm a bibliophile/ book fetishizer, and strongly concur with Borges that,“...Paradise will be a kind of library.” If my head isn't buried in a book, I'm usually busying myself with whatever modest contribution I can make to the ongoing project "of building a new world in the shell of the old." But I've recently been reminded of the importance of having balance in my life, so I'm trying to give a bit more attention to my body, and for lack of a better word, soul. I enjoy doing (or at least have convinced myself that I do) physical activities: from riding bike to working out to breaking it down on the dance floor from time to time. Other than that, my current goals for the not too distant future are to travel more, to learn how to bend notes on the harmonica, and to brew some beer! On the whole, my interest are pretty eclectic, and I'm generally open to trying new things.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm currently trying to figure out how I can work less, make more money, and have more time to read, drink with friends, learn to play new instruments, write, etc. If only there was a way to reorganize society so as to be able to have more time to enjoy the things we really want to do...oh wait, there is.
I’m really good at
Naming things and coming up with titles for stuff, demolishing people in "Trivial Pursuit", selecting beers, coming up with bad puns, recommending books or films, being a human pillow, being a human heat blanket, playing amateur shrink, discussing politics or philosophy, and teaching History.
The first things people usually notice about me
My beard. If on the dance floor, then it's probably my footwork.
