My self-summary Propose an edit
Ask me to describe anything else but myself, and I'd do a bang-up
job. Myself, though. That's a tall order.
I'm smart, friendly, easy-going, and funny. I'm not into clubs, but
I love concerts. I'm not that into coffee, but I'm always up for
going out for a cup, and some nice conversation. I prefer the
American version of The Office and the Japanese version of Iron
Chef. I think Hank Aaron's still the Home Run King. I have no
musical talent whatsoever, but I couldn't live without music. A
picture may be worth 1000 words, but I'll still take the 1000
words.
I sing in the shower. And in the car... Just about anywhere people
can't hear me.
I'm a night owl (is there such a thing as a "day owl"? Shouldn't it
just be "owl"? And what's the daytime version? "sunflower",
perhaps?). Short of a nice sunrise and Chik-Fil-A breakfast,
there's very little in this world worth getting up early for.
No matter how low my expectations are, politicians always manage to
underperform them. I'd love to care about politics, but it's so
fruitless. My energies are better spent on something useful. Like
playing Wii.
I write poetry.
I think it's amazing that people take what Dubya says seriously,
and that it's a crime that we can't all just agree that we're
screwing over the environment. I think "No Child Left Behind" must
have been designed specifically to leave children behind.
I love my mother. She's the best.
I disagree with the importance we place on standardized tests, yet
I make my living teaching kids how to do well on them. How ironic,
don't you think (and true irony, too, not the Alanis Morissette
"isn't this an unfortunate coincidence" definition)?
I'm not afraid of parenthetical asides (obviously); I dig a
well-placed semicolon, too.
Anything else you want to know? My shoe size? 14. My favorite
color? Blue. My porn name? Alva Shadow. My favorite Ninja Turtle?
Donatello.
Any other probing inquiries? Feel free to ask. I like a good
probing every now and then.
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I work full-time at a tutoring center. I teach just about
everything K-12, but mostly SAT. I really enjoy the work. Even when I'm
having a bad day, I still know that I'm doing some good in the
world. Which is a nice feeling.
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Boggle.
Freaky-good, actually. I also enjoy Scrabble and the NY Times Sunday
Crossword (in pen, natch). My Wii Tennis rating is above 2000. I'm also a
decent at juggling, writing poetry, and freestyle rapping (just
kidding about that last one).
Oh, and as you may have figured from the previous box, I'm
something of an expert on the SAT.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
I'm not sure what to say here, since people usually don't notice me
right away (I'm not what you'd call socially obvious, at least
around strangers). Besides, it's not the first thing you notice
about someone that's really important. It's the 50th thing, the
100th thing, and so on. Who wants to focus on someone's most
obvious attribute anyway? How uninteresting. Didn't we learn
anything from Beauty and the Beast, Roxanne, Knocked Up, etc?

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I have a serious crush on Pam from the Office (but who doesn't,
really?). I'm not even a celebrity-crush kind of guy, much less a
fictional-character crush kind of guy. She just owns me.
