My self-summary
A few fun facts will suffice for now. Enjoy the weirdness.

-I find myself singing a fair amount. I usually don't realize it until someone tells me to shut up. I'm not bad, I'm just not good.
- I hate socks. It's like my feet are being strangled. I wear them when necessary, but know that I am furious about it when doing so.
-I love fresh haircuts about as much as I hate socks. Yours, mine...really, anybody's.
-I have a ton of books. And I've read most of them too...
-I have the word "soigné" tattooed on my left arm. There's a fork, spoon, and cheese knife on the right. The utensils tattoo is a work in progress, with more tools to follow. A couple more ideas are brewing, but I tend to sit on an idea for a while before acting on it. I mean, tattoos are permanent, so you'd better be sure. And not too many, either. Gotta keep it classy.
What I’m doing with my life
Enjoying what I think to be the coolest job ever... Cheese mongering. I sell cheese at a market, and nothing makes me happier. I'm also

Shooting a ton of photographs, mostly film. Not because it's cool or ironic, though. I use film because full frame and medium format digital cameras and lenses are expensive as hell. Plus, film has character, it's cheap to process at home and easy to scan, and it challenges me. More importantly, a while back a friend's dad gave me all his old Nikon gear from high school. So I use what I have. I kinda felt guilty when said friend led her father to believe said cameras and lenses were not worth the effort it would take to sell on ebay, but they were just sitting, gathering dust. And I photographed the entire family in exchange, so the guilt subsided quickly.
I’m really good at
- my job. I love working with cheese.
- cooking. I'd better be though, culinary school was tough
- tv trivia. I'm especially good with tv shows there were cancelled before their time.
-reading people
-forgetting to turn the heat/ac down before I leave the house. There's a reminder taped to the front door, and still...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: Most of my reading over the last few years has been work-related, but Judith Guest's Ordinary People is my all-time favorite. I also have a fondness for 19th century Irish Lit left over from my short-lived attempt at being an english major. I try to keep that to myself, though.
Movies/shows: We don't have cable at our house, so I get most of my tv from Hulu Plus and Netflix. We've got a roku so I really don't feel like I'm missing much. Its pretty great, since its cheap, and it challenges me to find shows to follow, instead of mindlessly watching whatever is on. I just found this show about people who are preparing for's a trainwreck and I fucking love it. TV in our household is usually just background noise.
Music: I've been all over the place lately... if you're lucky I might let you see what's on my iPod.
Food: I'm a cheesemonger and chef, so...yeah, I like food. But seriously, I've put special effort into becoming intimately familiar with the way people used to make food over my career. I've been an artisan baker, farmhand and cheesemaker, I can preserve almost any food, slaughter and butcher whole name it, I can probably do it. Unless you want me to make you a foam or some shit like that. I guess at some point I figured out that I was more interested in the way food was made before we went and ruined it.
The six things I could never do without
-Cheese...what can I say? I love it. It's my life.
-A really sharp knife. If there's one thing I've learned is make sure if you cut yourself it's with sharp knives, not dull ones... and on a related note, if I were allowed a seventh it would be burn cream. What can I say? Shit happens at work and my hands and arms look like hell as a result. Part of the gig. I like to think it makes me look a bit tougher.
-A good mattress. sleep is crucial. I get 8 hours every night. won't compromise on that one.
-A guitar or piano
-My glasses. I'm blind as a bat without them, and since I can't wear contacts I have a handful of pairs that I pick between based on outfit, activity, or mood.
-This space used to say "my iPhone," but I dropped my phone down a drain a while back and ended up having to go without for a couple weeks.  I didn't die, so instead I'd have to go with a camera. There's one in my bag every day.

I've decided that things like family, friends, air, etc. don't count towards the list. We're supposed to be learning about each other, right? I could have guessed you need water.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- cheese. I'm studying to be a certified cheese professional. So between that and my job, i spend a lot of time contemplating the wonders of milk. -UPDATE- I passed! I'm now one of only 120 in the world.
- robot/zombie/talking ape uprising. One of them will happen. I'm just not sure which one. I used to think it would be robots, but I'm starting to lean heavily towards zombies. talking apes seem less likely than they did when I was younger.
- what kind of super power I'd want. I think it says a bit about a person. Never trust someone who says x-ray vision or invisibility. Their intentions are less than honorable. Wanting to see what shouldn't be seen, or hide what shouldn't be hid? not in my house.
On a typical Friday night I am
Working late, followed by unwinding with a couple friends over a drink. Occasionally at home watching tv with my roommate. Or going to bed, since I might have to work at the farmers market @ 5am.
