I'm an adventurous Californian who is addicted to new experiences
and learning about the beauty of the world around me. I have a
fascination for traditional culture that some Indonesians find
strange. I'm usually bored by people who don't have any kind of
curiosity about the world around them.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an English teacher, but that is just my way of funding my hobby
of exploring the world of music in Indonesia - I love to play
gamelan, explore nature, and meet new people.
I’m really good at
Finding the beauty in the things that people take for granted.
The first things people usually notice about me
My obsession with music and my sarcastic, silly sense of humor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - The Wind-up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami, Troutfishing
in America by Richard Brautigan, A House in Bali by Colin
Movies - Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Home Alone, Rivers
Shows - Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, How I Met Your Mother, Arrested
Music - Traditional music from all around the world - African,
Indonesian, and Brazilian are probably my favorite. Also indie pop,
classical/minimalism, early electronic, jazz...
Food - Thai, Indian, and Mexican must be my top three. But I love
Indonesian food - nasi goreng, martabak telor, and surabi might be
The six things I could never do without
1) New experiences
3) My kalimba
5) The internet
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The beauty of sound and color, the vastness of human culture, the
possibility of true love.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out with other bules, or at home watching pirated DVDs of my
favorite TV shows...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have no idea what I'm going to do with the rest of my life, and
this doesn't really bother me.
You should message me if
You have a curiosity about people, places, and things, and good
enough English to talk about it (sorry, my bahasa Indonesia is
