Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
things I've done in the last 12 months:
-- Lost at least 131,264 water bottles
-- Defended my PhD
-- Cared for and adopted out baby squid, horseshoe crabs, comb
jellies, leeches (those were tricky), sea squirts, and many
-- Moved to a new town
-- Ate cocoa nibs for the first time (if anyone tells you they
taste like chocolate they are liars).
-- Found a hole in the ground in the middle of the desert that
blows freezing cold air. I think there is a cave under there!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am a biologist. I'm also trying to make the world a better place
by being nice to people, adopting abandoned plants and animals, and
meditating on kindness. I "run", but recently confirmed that other
people can walk faster than my average running speed.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
-- doodling (near professional level)
-- random animal facts (PANGOLINS!
-- Collecting ways to trick the NYTimes website into letting me
read more than 10 free articles a month
-- getting lost in the woods
-- getting lost in thought
-- making tea
-- finding obscure yet fantastic YouTube videos
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My curly hair, no question.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: His Master's Voice by Stanislaw Lem, Cloud Atlas by David
Mitchell, Old Path White Clouds by Thich Nhat Hanh, Solaris, and so
For movies and TV: Gattaca, Blade Runner, The Fountain, Battlestar
Galactica, 30 Rock... I like movies with explosions/ninja
dinosaurs/monster, and robots. I also like movies that have a good
plot and compelling characters. It is very difficult to find movies
that fall into both these categories.
As for food: If I was stranded on a desert island with only 3 types
of food, they would hands down be potatoes, avocados and
croissants. Butternut squash, kale and strawberries are also
fantastic. I was a vegetarian for about 10 years, and am thinking
of leaning that way again.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends or enjoying a relaxing night in.

You'd like to get to know someone new. Outings are always fun,
let's try a new place! :)
Also, I have an intense internet allergy to spammy things, and
won't reply to messages that don't indicate at least a teeny tiny
smidgen of my profile has been read.
