My self-summary
Wouldn’t it be nice to have peer reviews of your dates? “3 stars. A nice guy, caring and dedicated, but a bit of slob. Always left the toilet seat up.” “1 star. A total pig, egotist and an asshole. I say that with total objectivity. I only dated him for 2 years because he was good in bed.” Shopping for love Amazon.com style—wide selection, streamlined browsing, testing personality before chemistry—you’d think we would progress with all this technology, but in the end, we are still going through the same old messy cultural courtship. Men recklessly charge like bulls after the flowing red flag of feminine beauty while women whirl their wiles and wait to be wooed by a night in shining armor.
Dear maiden, you must slay your own dragon, but if you like the sheen of my armor, seek further for the warmth of my heart.

I make documentaries, web videos, and feature films. My goal is always to bring a paradigm shift to my audience, to open them up to a bigger world than they had when they walked in, and to bridge academic discoveries to the public discourse. I hope to do this with documentaries and blockbuster science fiction films that show us a fresh perspective of our world in parallel. I would rather win the Nobel Peace Prize than an Oscar, but I figure if I can do one, I’ll do both, modest as I am.

I’m a nice guy but very passionate with some edges I don’t intend to polish. I’m not a jock, but I’ve run a marathon, I can stand on my head in yoga, and I can surf a wave into shore. I love good movies, music, sunsets, and nature. I write music on occasion, and I will sing to you if you inspire me. If you can harmonize with me, I might fall in love.

I grew up in a family of artists and musicians, eccentric creatives with disregard for the mainstream culture. I had strong women in my family whom I adored and I balanced my boyhood machismo with feminism, compassion and philosophical pursuit. In later years, I adopted the elements of mainstream culture that I respect, and I no longer wear tiger striped parachute pants.

I’m deeply engaged in personal growth, passionately loving, a rock, a mirror, a therapist, a friend. I like to be physically active every day, intellectually stimulated twice a day, musically swept away thrice a day, and soulfully touched as many times a day as possible. I have a multi-faith background, and I appreciate the world’s religions as valid systems for navigating life, but I prefer to approach spirituality scientifically, to exchange beliefs for theories and respect the a priori mystery of life. I am a mediator at heart, always trying to see the truth in differing viewpoints to create a synthesis, and I feel that when you leave enough room for new information, the viewpoints fit comfortably into the puzzle.

I’m seeking a particular woman who can dazzle me with her spirit, seduce me with her energy, stretch me with her mind, and free me with her touch; someone who would roll around in the dirt wildly, then clean up elegantly to dance in a ball gown. This woman has questioned her beliefs, attained perspective on her perspective; she is comfortable, willing to be vulnerable, passionate and real, capable of being a rock and a sail for someone else, and naturally full of joy. I am attracted to women who live through their bodies as artfully as their minds. An ideal partner is one that can help you get your head clear when your wheels get stuck in the mud, someone who knows you better than anyone, someone who loves you when you are brilliant and when you are stupid.

I am writing screenplays most days, often up in LA, and the joy of birthing ideas keeps me on a natural high, but I’m always open to that new spark that will change my world for the better. Write me, if you are so inspired.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm writing screenplays and producing documentaries and other videos worth sharing. I'm up in LA almost once a week; I used to live there and might choose to live there again at some point, near the beach.
I’m really good at
Cooking for women.
Overextending metaphors.
Improvising harmonies to a song on the spot. I can do classical stuff, but prefer to do alternative rock and folk ballads.
Listening and reflecting back insights on life, psychology, and religion.
Seeing a situation from both sides and finding an encompassing perspective.
Figuring out electronics without reading directions.
The first things people usually notice about me
My eyes.
My hearty laugh.
My deep approach to life.
My goofy spoonerisms and absurd, original ideas.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle, The Third Side by William Ury, I'll mature when I'm dead by Dave Barry. Working on Proof of Heaven, Think!, and Molecules of Emotions.
Groundhog Day, Shawshank Redemption, Unforgiven, Crash, Tootsie.
Daily Show and Colbert Report, most TV I don't watch because I see it as a time thief.
Coldplay, Keane, Muse, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Joni Mitchell, Sarah McLachlan, Jeff Buckley, James Taylor.
Kale Quinoa salad, Filet Mignon, Chicago deep dish spinach pizza, Vanilla Bean ice cream with smashed fresh blueberries.
The six things I could never do without
Loved ones.
A sense of purpose.
Close proximity to a large body of water.
Hot showers.
New Ideas.
Music.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
A utopian society, the different gears of the mind, how one's attitude affects his experience, self-fulfilling prophecy, the placebo effect, critical thinking, ironies of political rhetoric, what makes funny funny.
On a typical Friday night I am
Meeting new people or hanging out with friends, watching a movie or listening to live music.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have an ice cream addiction.
