My self-summary
So here's the deal - I can't wait to resign from online dating. I'm ready to meet a guy who gets my sense of humor and indulges (or shares!!) my love of football, opera, the symphony, Starbucks and superhero movies. I'm excited to learn about his interests and adore his quirks. Sure, I know it won't always be rainbows and unicorns but together we can compromise and work through things.

Sounds great, right? But first I have to get to know someone. You know, date them!! Lol

Sooooo, I have tons of fun things I want to do this summer and I would love to have somebody special join me. How about we:
• Go to concerts/movies/Shakespeare in the park. I love bringing picnics but I always overpack so I need help polishing off the food and wine!!
• Stroll around different street fests.
• Track down some yummy food trucks and have lunch in a park.
• Wander around the Botanic Garden, snap some pics and check out a concert or cooking demonstration.
• Seek out the best gelato in town!!
• Catch some jazz at the MCA or Shedd.
• Lay on a blanket at the lake and think, "This is the life."
• Whatever you want to do!!! :-D
What I’m doing with my life
One of the big passions of my life is my career. I'm a school psychologist and for me every day is different because every student's needs are different so I enjoy the myriad challenges that greet me each day. I'm a huge nerd when it comes to anything relating to psychology or sociology so be prepared to occasionally hear me gush over the results of some new study that indicates things like the biological reasons why some songs become huge hits and others flop.
I’m really good at
Enjoying the simple pleasures in life like sleeping late on the weekends, the feel of soft warm sheets fresh from the dryer and enjoying an ice cream cone while strolling down the street on a hot summer day.
The first things people usually notice about me
Everyone says my smile. I'm usually smiling or laughing about something. I'm a glass half full person and I try to see the humor in situations rather than let things get me down.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books - I enjoy reading just about anything but my favorite books are often historical fiction. I love returning to the classics too, and I've lost count of the number of times I've read Wuthering Heights, Pride & Prejudice and others.

Movies - I tend to skew towards comedies or action movies (The Hangover, Sherlock Holmes, Iron Man, The Avengers). I recently saw Argo and liked that too.

Shows - I don't watch a ton of TV but I do like Seinfeld, Big Bang Theory, Top Chef and Project Runway. I also love documentaries on the History Channel.

Music - Such a broad category. I guess I'll just say I enjoy some current artists like Lady Gaga, Imagine Dragons, Mumford & Sons and the Lumineers. I'm definitely getting more and more into opera and classical music. I saw La Boheme and Rigoletto last year and this season I've seen Madama Butterfly, La Traviata, The Barber of Seville and La Clemenza di Tito (excellent!!).

Food - Right now any place with a patio sounds great!! I'm an adventurous eater and enjoy lots of different ethnic foods, including: Indian, Greek, Thai, sushi, tapas, Mexican and Ethiopian to name a few. And there's always a special place in my heart for Italian!!
The six things I could never do without
My family, friends and my cat of course. Also, traveling, my iPhone and good veggie burgers.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Gosh, I feel like I should put something really deep here, like world peace or the national debt. Of course, I think about those things sometimes but honestly it's pretty varied. Right now it's mostly thinking about all the fun things I want to do this summer.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out having dinner with friends, catching a concert in Millennium Park, or collapsing from exhaustion on my couch.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
Well, it's not really private but I guess it's embarrassing if that counts. I love to sing (badly) along with the radio in my car. So if you see me out driving around you might catch me belting out the lyrics to "Bad Romance" or "Karma Chameleon". Don't worry, I don't subject passengers to this, I only pretend I'm a Grammy winning artist when I'm alone. :-)
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 38–48
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
You're a funny, sweet gentleman who is a good conversationalist. I'm really attracted to confident, take-charge guys. Basic social skills and an open mind are definitely a must!! :-) Bonus points if you know the difference between compliment and complement.

So you've read this far - what do you think? If I sound like someone you'd want to meet and you've also been thinking that you're at a place in your life where you'd like to bow out of the dating scene, please say hi. It might work out, it might not. But hey, it only takes one. :-)
