TV: I watch a good amount of cable so I suppose I should mention some of my TV preferences. The Simpsons has been a nearly lifelong joy. Elementary , Mad Men, Hannibal, Futurama, the Office, Game of Thrones,South Park, 30 Rock, Breaking Bad, the Sopranos, NOVA, and Nature are some of my Favorites.

Books: Roots, Absalom Absalom and Catcher in the Rye made a huge impact on me as a kid. I am now reading Niel Stevenson's Crytonomicon and 1421(Chinese oceanic exploration). Science books are awesome (anything by E.O. Wilson or Stephen Jay Gould). I have not read any Vonnegut or Tom Robbins in a while but I love how they make deep thinking funny. I like some "high literature" such as Rudshie's works but I fell asleep about ten times on 100 Years of Solitude before giving up. However I am determined to finish Moby Dick before I die.

Film: One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (also one of my favorite books), any Monty Python (I am a guy after all) American Beauty , LOTR, Star Trek and Wars, Donny Darko,Traffic, the Last Temptation of Christ, Godfather(s), Goodfellas, Amelie, Edward Scizzorhands, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The River Runs through it, Snatch and many others (I love film). My favorite comedies of the last 10 years are Office Space, Horrible Bosses, Idiocracy and Tropic Thunder.

Music:Led Zeppelin, Outkast, Grateful Dead, Beethoven,Avett Bros.,Sublime,Decemberists, Beck, Prince, Pink Floyd,U2, Stones, Radiohead, Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and maybe just a little Madonna
Food: foix gras, beluga caviar, truffles, quail eggs and cold pizza
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. family, friends, oxygen etc. 2. Art 3. laughter 4.New York Times 5. coffee 6.Frontline (there is not nearly enough quality investigative journalism on TV) Also my cat is very dear to me and life would be awfully dreary without NPR or the Bill of Rights.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
social and enviornmental justice and the mysteries of life (cosmic and personal)
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
ideally having cocktails with friends outdoors but usually TV and early bedtime. (I work Saturday mornings)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I like romantic comedies.
