My self-summary
Hello, I'm Patrick. I graduated from RU with a degree in history, and I'm currently working as a substitute teacher/aide for Montgomery County Schools. My dream job would be to be a writer, but I do that as more of a hobby since getting published consistently enough to make a career out of it is extremely difficult and unlikely.
I have a lot of random interests like archaeology, religion, psychology, astronomy, aliens theoretical physics, and biology. I really enjoy movies, both good and bad ones (sometimes the bad ones are more fun if the mood is right), and if there's a movie you insist that I have to see because it's absolutely amazing in some way, I'll probably see it to find out what the fuss is about. Occasionally I like to go to parties, though I don't usually find the ones where I don't know anyone to be very much fun. Most of the time it's more fun for me to just chill out and watch movies with friends. I like hiking, though I don't do it as much as I would like because most of my friends don't care for it as much as I do.
What I’m doing with my life
Right now I'm a substitute teacher, which is interesting work, but is by no means a permanent career. I'd like to do something that I feel matters to the world, like teaching or working for a non-profit organization (I've found that if you're doing something you're proud of, even the most menial of tasks can be satisfying). I also like to write in my spare time, just casually really, every once in a while I'll see if I can get something published, but it doesn't really bother me if it doesn't work out.
I’m really good at
finding the humor in most situations, but still being able to take things seriously. Generally I think a lot of people just take everything too seriously and need to calm down and take a step back and understand their situation before they act.
The first things people usually notice about me
Probably depends on the situation. In all honesty I have no idea.
The six things I could never do without
Internet, friends, movies, warm weather for at least part of the year, time to think, a robot butler... ok, not so much the last one, but when I finally have one I'm sure I won't know what I ever did without one.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What to do with the future, what I want to do to be happy. Then of course the standard questions like "What's the meaning of life?" "Are we alone in the universe? (probably not)" "why do so many people watch jersey shore?". The eternal questions I guess.
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging out with friends, watching TV or movies, occasionally a party here and there.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
It's not private if I tell the dozen or so people who will see my profile this year.
