friendship--the kind that lasts lifetimes; love--not in the silly definition of how we say we love someone's cooking or the way an outfit looks, or the way young lovers lust physically because they are young and are supposed to, but as Fromm defines love in terms of how we love and to what degree love can be measured, even though it is not a countable noun; companionship--in terms of actually liking, enjoying, and delighting in someone's company, not tiring of their conversation at the end of an evening, but actually wanting more; good red wine--the drier the better; good books--there is not room enough here to list all of the books I cannot do without; music--in all of its varieties, except perhaps country and screaming metal sounds that do not even begin to define music for me; languages--I know it's the seventh thing, but I don't like to end on the number six. Understanding and being understood by humanity is what I could never do without--and I hope to add to my list of languages and never cease until my dying breath.

I eat before I go to sleep and do not floss or brush my teeth sometimes but when I go to the dentist they rank me in the top 10 percent.
