I am here, there, and everywhere.

My Self-Summary

i was going to write the classic, succinct line that would handily reference my username and suss out those who don't get it. ahem, "I'm a loner, Dottie. A rebel." then i realized this is also a song by the Get Up Kids, which, well, blargh. so, nevermind. moving on ...

What I’m doing with my life

The bigger question is, what am I not doing?

I’m really good at

pop culture, hosting parties, interacting with old people and children, traveling, being by myself, gift-giving, cooking goat for 40+ people, to-do lists, adapting. i've also noticed an overwhelming number of people on here claim to be good at Scrabble. i feel like maybe this is code for saying, Hey I'm smart AND fun AND playful. so, yeah, me too.

The first things people usually notice about me

Decide for yourself.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Confederacy of Dunces, Kafka on the Shore, Breakfast at Tiffany's (so much darker and edgier than the movie, I promise), Kavalier & Clay, If on a Winter's Night a Traveler -- so mostly contemporary fiction stuff in other words.

Man on Wire, Desperately Seeking Susan, Eternal Sunshine, The Apartment, No Country for Old Men, The Graduate, The Elephant Man, Pee Wee's Big Adventure (of course)

Beach Boys, Bon Iver, Daniel Johnston, Destroyer, Devotchka, Donovan, Dr. Dre, Dylan, Guided by Voices, Hall & Oates, Holy Fuck, Jay-Z, Jonathan Richman, Kinks, Loretta Lynn, Microphones, Miles Benjamin Anthony Robinson, Modest Mouse (old), My Morning Jacket, New Order, Otis Redding, Pixies, Raphael Saadiq, Rolling Stones, Sigur Ros, Stone Roses, T. Rex, Woods, Wu-Tang. Blah, blah, blah, zzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

The six things I could never do without

-- my roof "deck," since it effectively doubles the size of my apt
-- down time
-- bubble baths
-- fotos/mementos/random ephemera that remind me of a certain time or place
-- a movie theater within walking distance
-- a hand-knitted scarf (made with love, of course!)

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Today and tomorrow, but yesterday can go fuck itself.

Also, i wonder why it always seems i get trapped behind slow walkers and people who can't keep their gait going in a straight line. I move to the left to try and pass, they ever-so-slowly veer to the left. I make a quick dash for the right, and so on and so forth. It's a real head-scratcher.

On a typical Friday night I am

doing what I might be doing if it were a Wednesday or a Sunday, say. It doesn't matter what day it is, if there's something that catches my eye -- a new restaurant, a show, a reading -- I go.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a total cheeseball around the holidays.

You should message me if

you get what I'm sayin'.
