My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I came to Brooklyn in Sept 2010 from Mississippi, and have basically loved it ever since. It definitely feels like the second home that's eluded me. I love the idea of mix tapes, and also books about them. I love the idea of gathering as much knowledge as possible. I try to jog as much as possible and am kind of bummed when I don't.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Having a far amount of fun and great moments. Had dabbled in the music industry for years but now work for a homeless outreach non profit, much more enjoying the people I work with, which is all you can ask for really. Other than that, going to shows, enjoying the scene, being generally impressed by the creativity around me.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
- getting lost in the city (this seems to be increasingly an exercise in futility since so many rad places are opening within walking distance of my apartment)
- finding a show to go to at the last minute
- finding the vinyl that i was looking for
- thinking that i can beat someone in chess
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a bit tallish, and I have a tendency to be quiet around people I don't know.

Books: I can't sit here and pretend I've read more than I have, but Joyce, Hemmingway, and Kerouac are good places to start. I enjoy a book called Waiter Rant even though I've never been one. I've recently become a fan of Al Burian.

Movies: Old Hitchcock movies, film noir, any David Lynch anything, the original Star Wars trilogy, The Motorcycle Diaries, Annie Hall. I just watched Short Term 12 on Netflix and was pretty jazzed about that.

Music: What I am hopelessly obsessed with...these folk are currently receiving my jollies: Allah-Las, Amen Dunes, Animal Collective, Atlas Sound, Avey Tare, the Babies, Beat Happening, Bob Dylan, Cindy Lee, The Clean, Cluster, The Crystals, Deerhunter, Dirty Beaches, Disco Inferno (more rad than they sound, trust me), Galaxie 500, Grouper, Guided By Voices, James Holden, Julian Lynch, Karen Dalton, The Kinks, Kurt Vile, Louis Armstrong, Lucrecia Dalt, Mac DeMarco, My Bloody Valentine, Nico, Noveller, Panda Bear, The Raincoats, Raum, Sonic Youth, Stereolab, Swell Maps, Syd Barrett, Thee Oh Sees, Tim Hecker, Velvet Underground, White Fence, Women, Yellow Swans, the Zombies

Food: I've gotten better? I've recently discovered how much I love avocados. I'm obsessed with seafood, and need to cook more of that
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Honestly I've been jazzing pretty hard lately on the new Drummer feature in GarageBand, just playing guitar forever to a different backbeat. Then I'm all like that was pretty rad, and then with an air of underlying satisfaction venture out to find something that tops it. Which given the night may or may not be too hard to accomplish.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I certainly wear my Southern accent on my sleeve at times.
