My self-summary Propose an edit

Hi!
-I added that word because I've had 2 people tell me that my profile started too abruptly. That oughta' do it...

My sense of humor takes getting used to (or so Im told). It's dry, but goofy... hard to explain, you'll just have to see ;) If you like it, you'll love it.

I love to travel (almost a dozen countries at this point), and would like to join the Peace Corps and work internationally after college. Preferably somewhere in the Middle East, since I plan on being fluent in Arabic by that time. Plus, sunset over the desert = awesome!

I love film, but I can be a bit of a snob about it. I dunno, I just like GOOD movies. What makes a movie good? If I like it, I guess. Wow, I guess that does sound kind of snobbish... My bad...

Im an avid musician. I play bass in a band, and a selection of brass instruments. I try to go to concerts at least a few times a month, too. I've performed in some big name places, too: my back yard, my friends' back yards, Carnegie Hall, the street, the school auditorium, and my basement.

I volunteer as a Big Brother for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Long Island and it's a blast. My little brother is like a 10 year old, hispanic version of me, it's crazy! Except his parents dont speak english, his brother is a gangster, and he'd never even considered going to college until we met... Long story short, we come from different worlds.

Also, my personality awards are pretty accurate.

What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit

During the school year, I'm living on campus at Hofstra University (great school, take my word for it), and during the summer I go home and do menial labour (looks like maybe a supermarket this summer, we'll see). My only real after college goals are to join the Peace Corps and be the President of the United States. Not much, I know, but it's a start. I just feel like I should and can make a positive difference in the world, and those are ways for me to do so.

I'm really good at Propose an edit

Debating Politics: I converted all my new college friends over to my candidate over the last few months. Im not sure if that says more about ME, or about the guy I was arguing for... but either way I WON HAHA! Sadly... my candidate did not :(

Reading. I just do it a lot :)

Writing a lot about a little. I wrote a play in highschool that was really only based on 1 scene from Hey Arnold, and one scene from the movie Chinatown. And that play ended up winning the school competition, so go figure. Just last night (April 29th) I wrote a 5 page paper on 2 sentences from the Communist Manifesto for a class. What's more, I've written this ENTIRE PROFILE about ME. Damn! Furthermore... this entire paragraph proves my point. Look how long it is! I could have said it in 6 words. Maybe I just ramble?

Falling: On my face while playing ultimate frisbee. Or any sport. Or game. Or walking.

And I'm pretty good at Bass.

The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit

I dunno, what I'm wearing?

Really though, my room mate told me the 1st thing he noticed is that I say "wicked" instead of "very" quite often. I guess it's a regional thing. It's wicked common where I grew up.

Get it? I said 'wicked common'? I'm wicked hilarious, I know ;)

P.S. The above section really doesn't apply when Im back home... at college it is witty and new, at home everyone says it...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food Propose an edit

Books: Catch 22, On The Road, Heart of Darkness, Don Quixote, Cry The Beloved Country, The Odyssey, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Alphabet Of Manliness, Revolution: A Manifesto, Lord of the Rings, The Stranger.

Movies: American Beauty, The Fountain, Requiem For a Dream, The Big Lebowski, The Gods Must Be Crazy, The 7th Seal, anything by Kubrick, long boring movies, short exciting movies, etc.

Musically I'm quite diverse, but I tend to favor rock/reggae/metal type stuff. Bands: Streetlight Manifesto, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rx Bandits, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, The Beatles, Pantera, Molotov, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, CCR, Children of Bodom, The Wailers, Chicago, Ben Folds, Igor Stravinski, Debussy, Cake, State Radio etc
I'm going to the Bonnaroo music festival this year, Im wicked excited!

The six things I could never do without Propose an edit

1. My siblings. 2. Any sort of musical instrument (i'll teach myself if i need to!) 3. Pillows 4. A sense of right and wrong. 5. A sense of humor. 6. Rock Band (yes, my room mates and I are "like that")

I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit

The future of the world and how I shall take it over.

On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit

At school, Im usually with my friends either causing mischief, going out somewhere fun, seeing a concert, or having a few drinks while playing video games (gotta have both or its not as fun!).

Back at home Taco Bell is often visited around 2 AM, basements are often occupied and movies are often watched.

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit

I have 3 role models:

1. My late mother, who in life taught me to love others with all my heart, and in death taught me not to let my OWN life pass me by. You never know when your time is up.

2. Bob Ross. Yes, the painter on Public Access who talks about happy little trees and clouds. I watch his show on my computer when Im stressed. As he says, "If you don't want to be happy, just watch the news".

3. Ron Paul. You might disagree with his politics (I love them, personally), but you have to respect the guy for being the one dissenting voice, not just in his political party, but in all of congress. It takes balls, but it also takes patience and respect. Things we all need. Except you ladies. You don't need balls...
