My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I suppose I'm a bit of a nerd. That is probably as good a place to start as any other. Also an understatement. I've even been to a convention or two. That'll probably scare away a few women. It wasn't until the first time I went to such an event that I really appreciated how diverse nerds are. I don't know if I fit any particular stereotype. Maybe the sociable nerd. Introverted, sure... but sociable.

I've been called stoic on more than one occasion. So I guess I internalize more than I think I do. I've always thought I wore my emotions on my sleeve. Maybe not.

Above all, I value my family. That's not a unique quality... but I think it qualifies for emphasis.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
The way I see it you either live to work or you work to live. I'm of the latter variety. I've had a good job with a national healthcare provider for the past 8 years. My vacation time is the envy of all my friends.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm better at gift wrapping than anyone you've ever known. It's a mostly useless skill outside of December though.
The first things people usually notice about me

I honestly don't know. Auburn hair, blue eyes, pale complexion.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
This is easily going to be the longest section of my profile... and yet, possibly the least important.

Favorite movies are tough. I have too many to list. I'll mention a few: The Apartment, Amelie, A Very Long Engagement, Princess Bride, Moulin Rouge, Chicago, Stardust, How to Train Your Dragon, Sunshine, Shawshank Redemption, Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Run Lola Run, Pan's Labyrinth, Serenity, The Professional, Fifth Element... I should stop. This list doesn't actually have an end.

Favorite tv shows of all time... probably Joss Whedon's and Aaron Sorkin's various series, Lost, and Battlestar Galactica. Nowadays I like watching The Walking Dead, Castle, Modern Family, Parks and Rec, Dexter, and Game of Thrones! That's my latest obsession.

Music-wise I listen to just about everything. Classic rock, alt rock, some pop, some rap, and Zoe Keating for some kick ass cello. I’m a fan of exuberant, even bombastic music. Huge Jeff Buckley fan. Not that he was particularly bombastic... just didn't have a segue. I actually wrote a screenplay about the lives of Jeff and Tim Buckley. I often listen to film scores too.

I've Been listening to a lot of Nico Vega, Florence + The Machine, Muse, The Killers, MS MR, Mumford & Sons, Daft Punk, and The Boxer Rebellion lately.

Favorite books are definitely Odd Thomas, Life Expectancy, and the entire Ender's Game series. I tend to read more fiction than non-fiction. I've been on kind of a sci-fi binge the past few months. Or more accurately, my whole life.

Food wise I suppose my favorites would be Mexican and Italian. I can't stand seafood. Otherwise I'm not all that picky.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Integrity, honesty, passion, commitment, humility, and love.

The trick is to have all six at the same time.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What happens next.

Also, online dating fascinates me. I don't know if this whole process is healthy. You obviously can't know someone until you meet them but it's so easy to dismiss a person based on their profile for one reason or another. Everybody has deal breakers, real deal breakers; but I do wonder sometimes what seemingly insignificant detail or question or word choice in a profile prevents two otherwise compatible people from meeting. We've all done it. I know I have.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Playing a game, catching up on shows I missed, or out seeing a new movie with friends. Or maybe eating a churro in line for space mountain.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a lamp shaped like a palm tree. I know, you're totally jealous. More private? Apparently I'll stop whatever I'm doing whenever Pitch Perfect is on HBO. Edit: They've since stopped playing Pitch Perfect all the time. So I had to go buy it.
