I am grounded, happy, and listening to Pandora.
My Self-Summary
I grew up in
New
Jersey, have lived in
San Francisco for 13 years, and
have owned my own business for three and half. I have a serious
nerd/bookish streak, but I've spent my life learning to lead with
my
heart, not my
brain.
I seek out growth experiences, and stay close with people who I
admire and who inspire me. I am an experience-seeking introvert,
which for me means I get the best of both worlds: exciting
adventures, tempered with time alone nesting and/or sitting in a
hot tub in the
redwoods.
I am
happy.
What I’m doing with my life
Professionally, I am a business and brand strategist, focused on
projects that are environmentally and socially positive. I enjoy my
job and believe in the work that I do.
My big hobby is
singing... I started taking lessons when
I was thirty, and love the humble pie and steep learning curve that
go with being a novice at something. It's an easy arm-twist to get
me to go to
karaoke.
I've done a lot of world traveling (including several trips to
Europe, South America, and Asia).
London is my favorite city in the world.
I like to stay physically active, and have been following some of
the Diakadi/Realjock exercise programs for the past few
months.
I am an omnivore for good content of any kind. During the day, I am
at one with the internet, and read lots and lots of books and
blogs. A handsome face or a smile can get me to put the book down
in a hurry.
I’m really good at
I am a good listener. I am good at being present -- generally I
find honest conversation and emotional intimacy a relief instead of
a threat. I like romance, and make relationships and romantic
evenings a priority.
I have an eerily good memory for pop culture trivia, and a close-to
eidetic memory for anything that can be written. I excel at
trivia-related games, unless there's a professional sports
category, in which case I am doomed.
The first things people usually notice about me
Blue eyes, genuine laugh
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Far too many to choose from, but the following would all make the
cut:
Books:
A
Suitable Boy,
The Caryatids, How to Be An Adult,
Little
Dorrit, Watership Down.
Movies: Mulholland Drive, The Great Muppet Caper, Conversations
with Other Women,
You Can Count on Me, Wings
of Desire.
Music:
Paul
Curreri, Greg Brown, Bjork, James Moody, Jamie Cullum,
Sigur Ros, Pink
Martini, Jeff Buckley, John Zorn, Sondheim, Rogers &
Hammerstein.
I tend to fall into comfort food ruts, often ordering the same
thing at restaurants I've grown to love. (God bless San Francisco.)
Dating someone new often expands my food horizons. I eat healthily.
The six things I could never do without
Love
Optimism
Music
Vulnerability
Good stories
Potstickers
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Can I make Dollhouse excellent every week by sheer force of will?
On a typical Friday night I am
I am crap at planning my Friday nights. As my friend M*** likes to
say, "weekends are for amateurs," and by Friday, I am usually beat.
A drink with friends after work, followed by some mindless
television, then sleep.
Thursdays and Saturdays, though, I party like a rock star. ;)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
It was somewhere above.
You should message me if
For romantic relationships, the only musts for me are good physical
chemistry and a reasonable overlap of values. I've tried to be
honest about the latter in my description above and in my quiz
responses. So if you like my photos and my self-description, and
you live in the SF Bay Area, give me a holler.
