My self-summary
Id say I am pretty unique. Maybe that means a goofball meets Don Draper but thats a hopeful stretch. I definitely am a friendly son of a gun and naturally want to command people's attention sometimes successfully in doin so other times not so much but I think more of the former.

Grew up in a good sized city in Texas, about 40 miles north of Dallas. Family were long time residents and they are doing great and doing their thing. I went to college there, sold some real estate, and even ran for city council a couple of times. Lost both of those times but had an itch for public office. Might scratch that itch one day but thats been muffled for the time being. Worked in DC off an on and hustled the campaign trail a time or two. I am pretty dang grateful for every path I took which eventually led me to our current moment and so far I am have enjoyed every encounter LA has offered. I have a solid group of friends and l work with them as well.

If you think you can summarize someone by their instagram photos.. well mine are: street art, food, golden retrievers, music, friends, and probably buildings. Pretty accurate

I also like puns, pragmatism, politics, people, alliteration, soccer, the idea for liberty for all regardless of the dislike of others, live music occupies/spotify a lot of my time plus eating out too much with friends and working a good bit do not mind because helping folks do things to change whatever community that is relative to them which is cool.

The first things people usually notice about me
Thats usually not the first topic of conversation I have with folks but the second thing they often notice"dang this guy knows quite a bit, I wonder if he is right? Who cares, he is pretty funny and quite handsome and really smart and cute, has great taste in music and wine and beer and movies, and television, and could see me a world leader or a movie/sitcom/comedian rock star"
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
This usually is great date conversation so I gonna go with the bulk of that in public exchanges to help figure things out.

But.. list are cool. so here are a few randoms to get an idea of my taste:
Caddyshack
Shawshank Redemption
Royal Tenenbaums
Coen flicks
Forest Gump
Memento

Not a huge reader, read a classic here and there but if I seek out a book its more than likely a non fiction, historical/political type of read. The books that stand out are these:The Prince, How Soccer Explains the World, The Last Lectures Thomas Jefferson: The Art of Power.

There is nothing better than Sundays on AMC and HBO. Seinfeld for sitcom reruns. I also get a kick out of Parks and Rec, 30 Rock but dont watch on a regular basis. Top Chef makes the cut.

Love me some tunes. I am my office DJ when it comes playing all the good hits. Spotify premium is a great investment. A few of my favorites: Capital Cities, Toro y Moi, Flume, Yonder Mountain String Band, Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, Gangstarr, Trampled by Turtles, Frank Sinatra, Elvis, Black Keys, Broken Bells

Probably grub too much. But I eat good. Love trying out new places to eat, especially downtown since this is where I reside.
www.grillwithphil.com is a cooking blog I have, I have dropped the ball and have been inactive but the blog is a glimpse into my humor. I also think homelessness is pretty sad in my neighborhood so check out www.lasammydrop.org for a noble attempt at food advocacy.
