What can I say about me that won't have you running for the hills? I was raised here in Winnipeg, though I did spend 4 years in BC finishing off a BA in History at Simon Fraser University. I could have stayed there, but the call of the wide flat prairies and a proper Winnipeg winter was far too strong. I far prefer a cold snowy winter than a wet gloomy dreary misaerable "winter." Have you seen how the snowfall sparkles in the moonlight and streetlights here? How can a heap of slush ever compare?
To pay the bills I work as a security guard. I would like to go on to grad school but that just isn't in the cards economically right now, instead I try to continue to study things on my own. It may not be the same, but at least it keeps my mind a bit sharper than if I don't.
I spend a lot of time reading, watching sci-fi/fantasy shows, playing old school tabletop RPGs, board games, and generally nerding it up. Tetris is by far the king of all vidja games.
I am a biblioholic. I am addicted to books. When I feel down I will end up buying a book or seven. This means that I always have more books than I could possibly finish. I like my books. People ask why I do not use the public library, and I am al "why use that loibrary when I have my own?" Sometimes I strech my arms out to touch the sides of my bookshelves in their corner and pretend I am hugging my library. My personal library is pretty sizable.
I like to be in or around water. Prairie thunderstorms are wicked awesome, but westcoast rainy winters are for suckers.
Were I to describe my religiosity to you, it would be an odd mishmash of Soto Zen Buddhism and Discordianism. Do not worry if this makes no sense to you. It does not always make sense to me either.
Be warned: I am a zombie enthusiast. I watch the bad zombie movies along with the good. Some make your teeth hurt. Because of this, I am also constantly aware of the potential of a zombie outbreak. I sometimes wonder whether or not the Boy Scouts are lax in their mission to "Be Prepared" out of a lack of a Zombie Defence merit badge.
What would my passions be? History, Tolkien, Godzilla, and Curling (watching since I don't get a chance to play).
