I don't read as much as I'd like to, but I've enjoyed books by george orwell, Hunter S Thompson, Joseph Heller, Philip K Dick, Herman Hesse and H.P Lovecraft. Politics, history, psychology and religion.

Watching films is much easier: Withnail and I, Dead Man's Shoes, A Prophet, There will be blood, the proposition, anything by Werner Herzhog, Shane Meadows or the Cohen Brothers .

TV- Mainly comedy: In the thick of It, Armando Ianucci, Chris Morris, Steve Coogan, monty python, louie ck, stewart lee, bill hicks, the wire, the sopranos, charlie brooker. twin peaks.

Music- loads!, tom waits, tame impala, jimi, funkadelic, roots manuva, can, howling wolf, devo, miles davis, joy division, the pixies, deerhoof, faust, captain beefheart, clinic, the fall, OFWGKTA, nick cave, billie holliday, the the oh sees, zombie zombie, neil young, blaaaa, etc. etc...plenty of good local stuff going around at the moment
