My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a pretty big nerd. I know a lot of people like to say that for the sake of sounding hip. No joke. I love board games. I paint miniatures and play tabletop strategy games with them (Warhammer 40K). I know WAY too much Warhammer 40K Lore. I read trashy SciFi and play video games.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Currently I'm working hard on a contract gig. Not usually in one place more than 6 months. Been lucky recently though: just got two contracts in a row in DC. Soooooo not moving any time soon. Eventually I'm trying to get a salaried position. Hopefully somewhere between DC and NJ.

I'm a software engineer and I love my work. Coding is an art form that few acknowledge. It is knowing a language to literally talk to machines. More powerful than any modern language. It's hard to get a person to do something with words. Not so much with a computer.

That being said I'm not entirely career focused. I put family, friends and fun above work and money. I love calling in sick to play hooky.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Making tropical salsa.
Watching movies.
Drinking beer with friends.
Cracking wise.
Coming up with great ideas for software I will never write.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My peaceful demeanor.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Favorite books: Starship Troopers, Old Man's War, The Forever War, The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, Stranger in a Strange Land (noticing a Heinlein theme?). As long as it involves two of the following three items: lasers, space, aliens. Anything by Asimov at the moment.

Movies: Alien, Shawshank Redemption, Snatch, Aliens, Jurassic Park, Alien 3, throw away bromance comedies, The Apartment, Drive

Shows: Psych, Burn Notice, Jack of all Trades, Stargate SG-1, The League, Community, Sherlock, Firefly :(.

Music: Rush, Tenacious D, Pendulum, Daft Punk, Sparta (it's not At The Drive In but it will do), 90s rock/folk/ska, Our Lady Peace, M83, Gramatik, Bonobo
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) My PC. I'm not married to it. I can deal without for a week or two BUT i do need a good fix of video juegos pretty often. Plus its my primary point of contact for damn near everything. Plus, Google is my all knowing god.

2) My car. I love driving. Love it. I live in DC but I spend damn near every weekend in NJ. Mainly because I love driving so much I don't mind spending 3 hours in the car to get there and back. Speeding with music up and windows down.

3) My Family. Yea they should probably be higher up than the computer and car but whatever. Don't judge me. You probably put your phone first......

4) Hockey.

5) A cold beer. Nothing like a great micro brew or Belgian. Pass the Ommegang please.

6) ...drawing a blank.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Space: how to get out there and how fucking huge the universe is. Most people can't comprehend the size of the city they live in. Makes me try to put it all into perspective.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Trying to drag a friend or a room mate to a bar so I can get out of the god damn house for once....

and if that doesn't work - bottle of vino at home and queuing up the Mechwarrior 2 soundtrack in Winamp and playing Mechwarrior Online.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I have a major case of arachnophobia. When i see a spider it becomes my mission to seek it out and destroy it. Lest I not be able to sleep that night for fear of it crawling on my face in my sleep and laying eggs in my brain or some crazy shit like that. Kill it with fire.

...or as Ripley would say "Take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure."
