My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I've been in Seattle for a year and a half or so, by way of San Francisco, Ithaca, Portland (just a summer), Shanghai, SF, and Philadelphia. I feel lucky to have lived in a number of different places - loved them all, for one reason or another. Loving Seattle, too, even the weather - when people ask me "how do you deal with the rain?" (invariably native Californians) I always answer that I love the rain, the winters, the clouds. I don't think they really ever believe me, but oh well. I certainly wouldn't mind Seattle becoming a long-term stop but you never know where the random walk of life will lead, I guess. But wherever it does lead, I'm sure it'll be fun.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Trying to enjoy it as much as I can. I know, that's a pretty stock and rather cheese filled line, but it's the best I can do on short notice.

By day I work in marketing for a large Seattle company, and find it generally quite enjoyable.

When not at the "day job", any number of things keep me occupied and happy - running, fishing, reading, tying flies, hanging out with friends, trying new restaurants, etc etc.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I can tie some really great flies (and I find making something with my hands quite cathartic after most days spent in front of the computer, creating 0s and 1s up in the ether).

I laugh a lot...what's the point if you're not having fun!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Food - most anything from sushi to steak, cajun to chinese...I spent close to a year on a project in Texas and fell in love with BBQ there, much to the chagrin of my heart, I'm sure. And if I have a glass of wine, a nice IPA, or a glass of whiskey to go with the food, all the better!

Books - It's hard to pick out a few...some favorites are Rabbit Run, Ethan Frome, Ender's Game, Once a Runner, Winter of Our Discontent, Travels with Charley, Call of the Wild...Some I've read recently and really liked - Drift (Maddow is awesome, and hilarious), Four Fish, Life Inc, River Notes..

Movies - Top Gun (yeah, I know Tom Cruise is nuts and the movie is just a Navy recruiting video but still...), The Descendants, Lord of the Rings, Resident Evil (pretty much all of them), Contact, Heat, Flight, The Guard...though I'm not sure if I'm just getting old and cranky, but it sure seems that "they just don't make em like they used to" when it comes to movies. I mean...Transformers 4 now passes for summer entertainment? Really? I'm pretty sure even the 14yo version of myself wouldn't have enjoyed that.

Music - pretty much everything, influenced by the places I've lived, i.e., West coast rap from the early 90s (Tupac, Dre, RBL, 4-tay, etc), Asian pop from the early 2000s, and driving across the country a few times and living in a small town in NY you get to like Country as those are usually the only radio stations one can consistently receive in such areas...so yeah, I love me some Lady Antebellum...and all the usual top 40 type stuff. I'm not terribly discriminating when it comes to music...
The six things I could never do without

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
What's up with Washington state not having a state income tax? I didn't know this when I moved, and it still shocks me that a state liberal enough to legalize weed and gay marriage has such a horribly regressive tax structure. Argh. Even California passed a tax hike on the wealthiest in 2012. If you need signatures or anything for a ballot initiative implementing an income tax, let me know! So I guess I spend a good deal of time thinking about and reading about politics, society, economics, and the intersection of all three - obviously I learn hard towards the progressive side of the spectrum. I mean, who doesn't like fairness and equality? Sheesh.

Other than that I spend a lot of time thinking about spending more time outside, away from LCD screens and incandescent lighting.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Relaxing - which entails different things depending on a lot of factors (how the week was, what the weekend is bringing, etc)...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

Sometimes the thing I look forward to most is some quality alone time.

You'd like to make a friend, grab a coffee, go for a run, or explore the city together. Mostly, I'm looking to meet new people as friends first; if something more were to come of that I wouldn't complain!
