I'm a graduate student in economics and I really love what I do. I often feel like I'm a little kid that gets to go exploring -- I get to go to the archives to collect data and see documents that I'm fairly sure no one has looked at for years. Then I get analyze the data and learn something cool about the past. What I think I love the most though are the little things -- like principals going to bat to get a high school diploma for a student, or new school districts looking for creative ways to find funding.
I also love the outdoors. I go camping whenever I can. Just love kayaking down a river and hiking -- Percy Warner Park is a favorite.
I love to read -- narrative history is a biggie (Shelby Foote, Robert Massie, Gordon Rhea are 3 favorites), but also novels, from Tolkien to Tom Wolfe and beyond.
Baseball is another passion. I live and die with the Cubs and try to make it out to Greer stadium as often as possible in the summer. I may even buy season tickets this year. I like it because while it's statistical and numbers from 10,000 feet, it's poetry when you're sitting along the first base line.
My faith is very important to me. I became a Christian late in life, but it's become a defining part of me. It motivates me in many ways -- from volunteering to feed the homeless at my church to trying to cheer up people who are struggling. It's very important that any match at least understand my beliefs, and ideally I'd like to find someone to share it with.
My personality type is INFJ -- and I'm a pretty good example of it. I'm complex and unique, and it takes a while to get to know me. But if you take the time, you'll find that I'm funny, ferociously protective of my friends, kind and tough.
