My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm a graduate student in economics and I really love what I do. I often feel like I'm a little kid that gets to go exploring -- I get to go to the archives to collect data and see documents that I'm fairly sure no one has looked at for years. Then I get analyze the data and learn something cool about the past. What I think I love the most though are the little things -- like principals going to bat to get a high school diploma for a student, or new school districts looking for creative ways to find funding.

I also love the outdoors. I go camping whenever I can. Just love kayaking down a river and hiking -- Percy Warner Park is a favorite.

I love to read -- narrative history is a biggie (Shelby Foote, Robert Massie, Gordon Rhea are 3 favorites), but also novels, from Tolkien to Tom Wolfe and beyond.

Baseball is another passion. I live and die with the Cubs and try to make it out to Greer stadium as often as possible in the summer. I may even buy season tickets this year. I like it because while it's statistical and numbers from 10,000 feet, it's poetry when you're sitting along the first base line.

My personality type is INFJ -- and I'm a pretty good example of it. I'm complex and unique, and it takes a while to get to know me. But if you take the time, you'll find that I'm funny, ferociously protective of my friends, kind and tough.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Getting a degree, and going to teach college somewhere. Hoping to excite a love for history in as many as are open to it.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Explaining complicated statistical concepts in a straightforward manner and something else you'll *really* need to get to know me well to find out about.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My smile, my eyes, and (I'm told) my butt. Not sure how the last one works, though, since I rarely back into people...
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

"Breaking Bad" is the best TV show ever. Though, happily, I don't really see myself in any of the main characters. "Better Call Saul" is off to a very nice start. I also like Castle, The Big Bang Theory, and Once Upon a Time is a guilty pleasure.

Books: The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay (not really enough words for how much I like this one), Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, Dreadnaught (narrative history), Lord of the Rings.
Movie: Shakespeare in Love, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Spider-Man 2, Chances Are
Food: Slab of meat. Fire. Yum. Also: sushi; California strawberries; pineapple; and deep dish pizza.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Oh, pretty much everything, but current politics as well as economic history (my Ph.D. field) at the moment.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Modelling the Industrial Revolution and combing through old documents looking for 18th century employment figures. I think my friends will have me on an episode of "Intervention" if I don't stop the insanity...
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am the most extreme night person I know. On the rare occasions when work schedules allow it, I'll go completely nocturnal.

Also read through the questions -- quite a bit of private information there.
