My self-summary
- former nomad. (I have lived in 4 states over the last 2 yrs.)
- bit of a math nerd.
- appreciative of spontaneity (i.e., not a good planner).
- road trip enthusiast.
- wildly independent unless there is a rodent in my house. while adventures are typically better w/ a companion, I have no problem venturing out solo.
- I would rather have a few quality friends than a multitude of acquaintances.
- for the most part, I have a dry (more often than not, inappropriate) sense of humor and I know when to laugh at myself. it helps since I am somewhat of a klutz.
- despite my klutzy tendencies, my (urban) friends would classify me as "outdoorsy" ... I like to camp, rock climb, snowboard, hike (I did spend the majority of the last 13 years in CO).
- I love to cook. I hate touching raw chicken (bonus points if you will do it for me).
What I’m doing with my life
- familiarizing myself with the new locale.
- hiking with my pooch as much as possible.
- trying to become a morning person. it may be a lost cause.
- cooking. a lot.
- baking for co-workers and friends.
- haunting random bars on trivia night.
- possibly dancing while driving.
- searching for the perfect dive bar in the DC area.
- trying to convince my friends that staying home and playing board games while drinking is far superior than most bars.
I’m really good at
- making pancakes. seriously, they are pretty ridiculous.
- procrastinating. world class, actually.
- solving triple integrals. (note: not useful outside the academic realm.)
- saying exactly what's on my mind with no filter.
- inappropriate commentary (see above).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books: to kill a mocking bird, the harry potter series, most david sedaris essays, cookbooks (this should probably come first), dwell magazine.

movies (that I'm willing to admit): LOTR trilogy, amelie, the professional, tombstone, heat, point break (a true gift to american cinema), rushmore, wet hot american summer, the indestructibles, and pride & prejudice.

shows: sherlock (BBC version), parks and rec, firefly, the west wing (outdated, but still fantastic).

music:
- currently: johnny cash, the pixies, the xx, the avett brothers, the black keys, the lumineers, bill withers, bruce springsteen (pre-born in the usa), most blues (when I'm reading), and early 90's hip-hop (for the bad solo car dancing)

food: pancakes, indian food, guacamole, red meat, pretty much anything spicy, and cheese pizza (when I've had a few too many). although, I try to keep my food as local, non-processed and seasonal as possible. coffee and peppermint tea are staples in my world.
The six things I could never do without
- my family (including the pup) and close friends.
- intelligent, hilarious, sarcastic people in my life.
- bourbon, a dirty martini, hoppy beer, and red wine that doesn't give me a headache.
- a constant supply of good reading material.
- road trips. solo or w/ good company. preferably towards the mountains or any body of water.
- bottomless mimosa brunches (hopefully with hilarious, sarcastic people).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- what to cook for the week.
- where I want to go for this weekend's hike.
- my next adventure.
- biking and how much it terrifies me to do it in the DC area.
- how to get out of my student loans.
- where I can find a stellar martini.
- planning my next trip to new orleans.
- how much I want to learn to kayak or sail, but I'm probably too clumsy.
On a typical Friday night I am
- watching a spectacularly bad movie or reading at home after happy hour.
- cooking with friends.

in the interest of full disclosure, friday night is my least favorite night to be at a bar. especially w/o a good reason.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am terrified of go-karts. seriously.

and, I lose my temper playing mini golf. every, single time.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 30–37
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
you think we will make each other think and laugh.
you appreciate the outdoors.

other outstanding (somewhat superficial), but not necessary qualities:
you make a good pot of coffee (while I have breakfast covered, I inexplicably lost my palatable coffee making abilities).
ron swanson is your role model.
you feel equally comfortable in the city or in the middle of nowhere.
you wouldn't consider spontaneously driving a few hours for a concert, restaurant, mountaintop, etc. an asinine idea.
you can teach me to start a campfire and/or kayak.
you can parallel park my car better than me.
