I am smart, loyal, and honest to a fault.

My Self-Summary

I originally went to school for music education. After teaching for a few years, I decided to change careers. Now I am pursuing a degree in nursing.

Hobbies include reading, playing video/board/card games, watching movies, playing with my 2 cats, photography, and hanging out with friends.

I am self-sufficient. While I would like to find someone to have a relationship with and someday would like to settle down, I am perfectly capable of surviving on my own. I think it is gentlemanly for a guy to offer to pay on a first date (provided it isn't very expensive) but I usually go 50/50 on cost for the duration of a relationship. I would like to meet someone with whom I can enjoy various activities, but who also has his own interests. Bonus points go to people who can teach me things. What things? Well, most. Whether you can teach me how to make wine or teach me the difference in how you throw a curveball verses a change up, I usually like to learn. I am steadfast in supporting the people close to me in whatever endeavors they may pursue, and I expect the same. I appreciate hard work. If something is worth doing, it's worth doing well. If you're not willing to work hard for the things in your life, I don't want you around. I dislike mediocrity. Average is overrated. Be excellent. Even if you can't be the best at something, strive to be. My expectations are high, especially the expectations to which I hold myself. I give 100% in my relationships, and I expect 100% in return.

What I’m doing with my life

Right now, the focus is on school. Once I finish my degree and get a better job, I will have the financial freedom and the freedom of time to pursue some of my other interests.

I’m really good at

Playing musical instruments. Writing, but I don't like to write. Picking up random bits of knowledge. Explaining things. Coming up with mnemonic devices.

The first things people usually notice about me

Eyes, I think.

Personality-wise it all depends on the setting in which you meet me.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books - Assassin's Apprentice, by Robin Hobb; Dune, by Frank Herbert (yes, I've read all of them); Earth and The Postman by David Brin; Anne McCaffrey's DragonRider series, I've read all (I think) the books about PERN; The Rowan, also by Anne McCaffrey; The Dark is Rising series, by Susan Cooper (these are young adult books but still good); Phantom, by Susan Kay; the Kushiel books by Jaqueline Carey; The Neanderthal Parallax, by Robert Sawyer

Movies - A Knight's Tale; Moulin Rouge; Gladiator

Music - depends on my mood

Food - ice cream; spaghetti (homemade); steak; fries

Video Games- Avatar, Animal Crossing, Rayman: Raving Rabbids

The six things I could never do without

friends, family, glasses, cell phone, computer (with Internet), books

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Everything - I think too much

On a typical Friday night I am

Working. Bah. Then I get home and sit at the computer for a bit before bed.

On the nights I don't work, I usually watch movies, play around on the computer, play with my cats, talk to/hang out with friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Nothing, really. Get to know me and I'm an open book.

You should message me if

you feel like it.
