My self-summary
My friends describe me as funny, intelligent, occasionally awkward (in an endearing way), and generally somebody who they enjoy talking to. I'm a pretty big nerd, which is something I've come to embrace over the years (I find it interesting that society is much more accepting of nerds these days than it was when I was growing up).

I have a zombie-like fascination with brains, though unlike zombies, my interest is academic rather than culinary.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm about to start my 4th year as a med student at Wash U. I truly love medicine. It can be demanding, but it's always mentally stimulating, and you can sometimes make a big impact on people's lives. That impact isn't always through figuring out some brilliant diagnosis; a lot of the time, people really appreciate just having somebody who takes the time to listen.
I’m really good at
Cooking, mixing drinks, neuroscience, witty/nerdy banter, wordplay, crossword puzzles, inexplicably injuring myself, overusing parentheses

Also, I recently starred in a musical, so singing and/or acting should probably make the list
The first things people usually notice about me
I'd like to think it's my wit and charm, but it's sort of hard for those to be the *first* things anybody notices if they have working vision. I'm usually pretty well-dressed, which people sometimes notice. Physically, it might be my pale skin and vampire-like canine teeth. Fortunately, we live in an era where this reminds people of popular characters from True Blood/Twilight/Whatever rather than making them want to form an angry, pitchfork-wielding mob.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: The whole Song of Ice and Fire series AKA the Game of Thrones series, anything by Tom Stoppard (particularly Arcadia and The Real Thing), Hamlet, Othello, Macbeth, To Kill a Mockingbird, Catch-22, The Great Gatsby, Cat's Cradle, anything by Neil Gaiman (especially American Gods)

Movies: Lawrence of Arabia, The Lion in Winter, Amadeus, American Beauty, The Godfather, The Graduate, Kramer vs. Kramer, Tootsie, Stranger than Fiction, (pretty much anything with Dustin Hoffman), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Memento, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Serenity, Arsenic and Old Lace, Wet Hot American Summer, and about a zillion others.

Shows: Game of Thrones, Archer, everything Joss Whedon's ever done (Firefly, Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse, Dr. Horrible), Dexter, Modern Family, How I Met Your Mother, Big Bang Theory, Castle, , The Guild, Futurama, Community, 30 Rock, Parks and Recreation, Downton Abbey, Dr. Who

Music: Classic rock (Led Zeppelin, Rush, The Who, Beatles, Queen, etc.), Rage Against The Machine, David Bowie, Metallica, Matchbox 20, Goo Goo Dolls, various other pop music from the 90s-early 2000s that's grown on me because of nostalgia, World/Inferno Friendship Society, Lonely Island, Childish Gambino

Food: Pomegranates, Indian food, Thai food, sushi, steak, cheesesteaks (my time in Philadelphia spoiled me a bit)
The six things I could never do without
friends & family
mental stimulation
my chef's knife
Google maps - I have a notoriously bad sense of direction
my netflix account
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Medicine, new mixology ideas, Eagles football, politics, interesting ice cream flavors to make, neuroscience, movies, puns involving friends' names, and the huge array of random things that pop into my head.
On a typical Friday night I am
Out (or in) with friends, binge-watching Netflix, or occasionally stuck in the hospital.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I have a soft spot for Charmed.

Basically, a friend explained the plot of a Charmed episode to me, and I thought, "This sounds like the stupidest show ever created." Then I watched an episode with him (yes, it was a him) and thought, "This might actually be the stupidest show ever created." Then, for reasons I don't really understand, I just kept on watching it.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 20–35
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating, short-term dating
You should message me if
You're interested in me (whatever that means to you). I honestly think the whole notion that the guy has to initiate things is silly. I've heard of guys that are turned off by women who are too forward, but I am decidedly not one of them, so go for it.
