I like almost everything Bret Easton Ellis has written. "The
Unbearable Lightness of Being" has solidly remained at my top-five
for years, now. "House of Leaves" is another favorite. Recently, I
really fell in love with "The Dog Stars," which sparked a sudden
streak of reading post-apocalyptic fiction. Memoir of all stripes
continually fascinates me, as well as anything related to
psychology and research.
I don't watch much television, but I have an unabashed and
unashamed zeal for the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica. More
recently: It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia and Archer.
As far as music, I'll keep it brief and say that I have my top-tier
favorites that have remained unchanged for years, but I have an
affinity for dream-pop, shoegaze, trip-hop, anything with heavy
reverb, garage rock, some punk, and, more days than not, really
shitty pop-rap. I can't help it. It's like the musical version of
watching soap operas: helplessly addictive.
Food? Not much else makes me happier than going out to eat with
friends. I eschew the label of "foodie" but I do enjoy expanding my
tastes, though, to be honest, there are days I'm entirely content
with ramen noodles and the frozen mac n cheese I keep nearly always
on stock. Also, nothing beats a good peanut-butter-banana
sandwich.
Don't get me started on movies. I'm the girl that everyone is
always pointing fingers at and screaming, "Wait, what? You haven't
seen that?" Recently, I really enjoyed all three of these entirely
disparate movies: Prometheus, Beasts of the Southern Wild...and,
yes, Get Him to the Greek.
Varied tastes. I like to keep life interesting, that way.
