My crazy/wonderful wife just told me I can build a pirate ship. I thought that was just nuts (where would I keep it? My house's lot is only 106 feet long... my family doesn't own any property on the shore anymore). So we compromised and will attempt to build a half-scale pirate ship (half the Lady Washington, plus a sterncastle, roughly), which can fit in the driveway. Or at least that's the plan.

We're still working on the actual plans (wow, putting my degree to work at last) and arguing over the merits of construction materials (I like wood, wood is neat and soft and smelly and my friend, but I've owned wooden boats before, and I wouldn't wish that on my enemies). But I'm ready to start welding.

On Thursday, July 27, 2007, three of the roughly 250 people worldwide in one of my professions were killed in an accidental explosion in Mojave. Getting there can be hard.

Driving home while solving a technical problem. And then off causing trouble.

I don't get nearly as much done as I want to, and it bugs me.
