My self-summary Propose an edit
Hey everyone! A little about me: I've lived in the Bay Area 15
years now, am originally from N.J. I think I still retain somewhat
of an east-coast sensibility. I still miss NY pizza and warm summer
nights, but I'm generally enjoying my bay area existence.
Seriously, Berkeley smells really good sometimes - the trees, the
plants . . .
My interests include music (mainly electronic, and particularly
techno, but I do
like some folk,
new
wave/'80s and experimental artists as well, see
below), dancing,
exercise,
health, travel, spirituality, walking and hiking, hanging out with
friends (I do like to make time for this), , food (sometimes cooking and sometimes
eating out), and reading Lots. I read a lot, and it is
rare you will find me without a book in my hands
I used to be more of an activist, and have fairly radical
leanings, but I haven't done much social activism for several years
now, and am interested in pursuing other interests these
days.
I'm looking to meet new people, and, ultimately, for a relationship
(and to "fall in love"), but I am open to, and interested in, other
arrangements, such as being "intimate friends". I tend to feel
deeply, and am not afraid of intensity. Sex for me always involves
my emotions, and I cannot do casual hook-ups.
Let's see, what else... I'm bi, I think (well, I think I still am
-- it's been a while), but I'm mainly interested in meeting men
(which is why my profile says straight). I'm also not traditionally
femme-y. For example, I don't generally wear make-up. I'm not
androgynous or butch, either, though.
Physically, I'm short and curvy, approximately size 14 petite
(hourglass figure, with a little meat on my bones).
For you astrological types, I'm mostly earth and water (lots of
virgo and scorpio), with my moon in a fire sign.
I'm not interested in having children, and, for a serious
relationship, would prefer to date men either without children or
with older (above age 12?) children. For friends/friends with
benefits, etc., it makes no difference.
I can be a bit vulgar and crass at times, but not in front of your
parents or in inappropriate situations. :)
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
these days:
- wondering if I should stay in my job, with 5 weeks of vacation
(I'm trying to get as close to a European way of life as possible
here), or find a career I'm more interested in, or try to do both
at the same time. (I'm a paralegal right now.)
- looking for a new book to read (always)
- staying in touch with friends and developing new
friendships
- looking for some new music
- trying to heal my recent back flare-up, so I can get back to my
favorite classes at the gym - I can't wait to fully work out again!
I'm really good at Propose an edit
Being modest (so this is a little hard to write!). My job, usually.
Being affectionate and honest. Being a good friend. Grammar,
usually (still wondering if I should be a copy editor). Perhaps the
overuse of parentheses.
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
my eyes and my smile

TV: don't usually watch it. I did really enjoy The Sopranos and Six
Feet Under, though. Am trying to start watching The Wire, but I
don't have a lot of free time for TV viewing.
Food:
Tiramisu!
Spanish and Basque cooking.
Really good, thin-crust NY pizza
This tasty pasta dish I make with anchovies, crushed red pepper,
garlic and olive oil. Mmmm...
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
well, I obviously "could" do without them, but life would not be
quite so much fun then:
1) Good music.
2) Hot water
3) Cats
4) Books
5) Friends
6) Travel (I would be really freaked out if I for some reason I
couldn't leave the country)
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
a lot of things. Hard to summarize right now.
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Going to the gym in the late afternoon, then maybe (a) checking out
my friend's happy hour (just for socializing, not for drinking; (b)
going home and getting ready to go out again or hang out w/
friends; or (c) kicking back at home w/ a book or movie
The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I'm a bit kinky.
