I am a pirate, known as Redbeard, and I'm not insane.
My Self-Summary
In the process of slowly updating this thing. I haven't touched it
since I first joined almost a year ago.
The name's Ryan. I grew up in a rural/suburban area in another
state, and have only lived in a city for the past year. I'm still
adjusting to it, but so far it seems to be going alright. I'm
looking to meet some quirky, interesting people in the area.
I have a pretty wide range of interests, with a bit of a
geeky side. I play plenty of
video games,
watch a little
anime, and have a thing for
history. I also enjoy
getting out once in a while.
Camping,
fishing,
hiking; I love them all. More recently I
started getting into
shooting (no hunting, it ties in with
my thing for history, I love those old
WWII rifles). Those are just the basics,
but at least it gives you some idea of what I'm into.
I'm not gonna try to describe my personality too much here, since
perception differs, but I've been described as easy going, kind,
honest, sarcastic, and depending on who I'm with either playful and
cheerful or way too quiet for my own good.
As for what I'm looking for? I'd prefer to try and find something
that turns into a long-term relationship, but I don't think you can
really search for or try to force that kind of thing, it just has
to happen on its own. So with that out there as being my ultimate
goal... I'm down for just about anything. Hell, even making some
enemies would probably make life a bit more exciting.
What I’m doing with my life
I've recently moved to the Pittsburgh area, and I'm looking at
colleges in the area.
I’m really good at
Practical problem solving (I've been known to MacGyver it up),
video games, learning new things, situational awareness.
The first things people usually notice about me
If I'm sporting a beard, how red it is and how much it stands out
in contrast to the rest of my hair. You may call me Redbeard. Call
me Gingerbeard however, and we've got ourselves a little problem.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Books: Going to have to go with
Stephen King here. I love the Dark
Tower series (mostly) and all the books it ties together. Other
than that, I'm more apt to just go to the library and pick up
something that looks interesting, I'll read just about anything
other than romance, and don't like mystery too much either.
Food: I'm not that much of an adventurous eater. That's not to say
I won't try new things, but you just won't find me jumping at the
opportunity to try some balut or casu marzu.
Movies: Almost everything. Though horror and action are the types I
watch most. I also love old B-movies, such as the
Evil Dead series. Hail to the
king, baby.
Music: I can listen to/tolerate most music. My favorite being rock,
metal, and classical. Anything that has a decent amount of focus on
the instrumental aspect of things. Currently been listening to a
whole bunch of instrumental progressive metal stuff, such as
Apocalyptica,
Kamelot,
John Petrucci,
Buckethead, and
the like.
Ask and I can go into more detail about the bands/artists I listen
to, and if you have any lesser-known music you find enjoyable, let
me know. I'm always up for listening to something new and
potentially expanding my tastes.
The six things I could never do without
Really, there isn't much that I haven't gone without at some point.
Except for, you know, the basics such as air, water, etc. I'm not a
materialistic person at all, but since that seems to be the spirit
of the question....
1. Internet (Nearly all the knowledge of humanity at your
fingertips? yes please.)
2. My car (The world is a vast place with lots to explore, hoofing
it just doesn't cut it sometimes.)
3. Computer (Related to #1, but I also use it as my main source of
entertainment at home. Games/movies/books/tv/etc. all in one
device.)
4. My glasses/contacts (I have horrible eyesight. Genetics
suck.)
5. Music (This isn't really a materialistic thing, but I'm having
too much trouble thinking of more.)
6. My camping equipment (Yes, this is a cop-out and encompasses
many objects/things.)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the universe, everything. Through deep thought and
meditation, I've even discovered the meaning of life, and am
willing to share it with you. Ready for it? Its
42.
Really though, I think way too much for my own good. I'll start off
thinking about something profound and deep, which progresses to me
thinking about different scenarios involving said subject and
playing each one out in my head. That in turns eventually leads to
me just daydreaming half the time until something "important"
catches my attention, and the cycle repeats.
On a typical Friday night I am
Just chilling at my apartment not doing too much. I'd like to
change that.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I used to be overweight, by quite a bit. Managed to lose 80+ lbs on
my own to reach my current weight. I'm still one of those
"nice-guys" that always finishes last though, haha.
You should message me if
Nope, sorry, no "ifs" about it. You're going to message me,
otherwise I'm gonna send a lion after you. this guy, right here
--> >:3
Really, if you think I'm an interesting person and you'd like to
get to know me a bit more.
If we have a high match %.
If we have a high enemy % and you like discussing/debating. One of
the best ways to expand and develop beliefs are through life
experiences, so people with a different outlook on life always
interest me.
