I am lazy, laid-back, and sociable.

My Self-Summary

I'm a student. Through and through. You know, drinks too much, studies too little, morally lax, fancy myself as a bit of a liberal. All that stuff.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm doing a degree in European Law at Durham, currently on my year abroad.

So for the moment I am mostly complaining about French people and spending all of my money in Sephora, in between big (and normally ill-advised) nights out and writing long messages to everybody back home.

Also, I watch an inordinate amount of TV.

I’m really good at

Procrastination, reading quickly, replying to Facebook correspondance and being mildly obsessive over my favorite things. Seriously, I am a born fangirl.

The first things people usually notice about me

Well.. I'm tall? That's normally the observation people make. Especially relations that I haven't seen in a while. Or, if I'm on the beach, that I am very, very pale. And that the glare off me is blinding passerby.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

My taste in books completely reflects the geek that I am. Lots of sf/fantasy, especially Scott Lynch, George R R Martin, Raymond Feist, Tamora Pierce and Simon R Green. Plus some trashy chick lit (Meg Cabot usually. Yes, even the kids' ones). And the occasional bit of higher brow stuff, Austen, Hemingway, Bronte etc. But mainly just the geek stuff.

When it comes to movies I am easily pleased. I just like to be entertained! I have particular love for musicals (especially RENT and Moulin Rouge), Dirty Dancing, The Notebook, Star Wars (originals, obviously), Serendipity, The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Anchorman, but there are plenty that slip my mind right now.

Even more than movies, I love TV. The programmes I can't (or couldn't) miss are Firefly, Buffy, How I Met Your Mother, Gossip Girl, Friday Night Lights, Grey's Anatomy, The OC, Freaks and Geeks, Undeclared, Arrested Development, Gilmore Girls, Friends, Neighbours, Doctor Who and Veronica Mars.

And I don't know what to class Dr Horrible as except for awesome, so I'm just going to stick it in here.

I like a huge variety of music, but am currently on a Counting Crows and I'm From Barcelona kick. Oh, and I go to uni in the Land That Music forgot, so chances are if it came out after 2006 I don't know it, unless it was huge. Like, 'Umbrella' huge.

Food I just like. And lots of it. Unless there's peppers in it. I guess I prefer chinese to most other types.

The six things I could never do without

1. Facebook. Really.

2. My external hard drive and the TV goodness it contains. It is what keeps me sane here - have you SEEN French TV?

3. Contact lenses, 'cause I just look weird in glasses.

4. Diet Coke

5. It sounds very sappy to say my friends and family, doesn't it? But I'm pretty sure I'd miss them if they were gone, so.. Besides, without them what would the use be for Facebook?

6. A hairdryer. I had to go without one for a while, and believe me, the results weren't pretty.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Fictional people, as if they existed. Also, what I'm going to wear on any given occasion. Unfortunately, I have a habit of planning outfits around an item of clothing which I don't actually own.

On a typical Friday night I am

Either dancing on a table somewhere or huddled in bed watching the early seasons of Buffy for the thousandth time.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Erm.. I rewear socks a lot.

You should message me if

You don't mind hearing a lot about TV.
