My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I like to keep things pretty simple, uncomplicated, and uncluttered, though not quite down to the level of a monk.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I travel domestically and internationally quite a bit for work and pleasure, which are usually the same thing (>35 countries so far). My career is generally going well, I have great friends and family. I always had a feeling that San Francisco was the place that I was meant to live in; now that Im here, I know that feeling was correct!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
...some nerdy things...turning my friends on to music I like, that they then like...Watching the waves roll in along the coast and thinking about things...
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Im guessing that the first thing anyone notices about any otherwise normal person is something along the lines of gender / approximate age / attractiveness / seems nice, or not. People dont tend to run away when they see me, so thats a good thing.

Books: I read nerdy things that you probably dont. I also like old travel journals of early explorers. Reading them, one really gets a sense of just how much the world has changed over the past few hundred years.

Movies: Science and nature documentaries, especially BBC shows hosted by the great David Attenborough. I like animated movies by Hiyao Miyazaki...anything by Tim Burton, Clint Eastwood, Charles Chaplin, or the Coen Brothers...anything with Gary Oldman, Chistopher Walken, Kevin Spacey, Johnny Depp, etc...and now for another list: Eat Drink Man Woman, Batman series, The Big Lebowski, Bruno, Everything is Illuminated, Mary and Max, Million Dollar Baby, The Matrix (first only), Hugo, UP, Wallace and Gromit, 9, Borat, Memento, Microcosmos, Himalaya, Nightmare before Christmas, The Lord of the Rings, The Pillow Book, The Triplets Of Belleville, The Shawshank Redemption, The Yes Men, V for Vendetta, you like some of these?

Shows: Although I have not co-habited with a TV for many years, Im not entirely oblivious to that world. I rarely miss an epidode of The Daily Show or The Colbert Report.

Radio: Im making my own category. I listen to a lot of radio, NPR newscasts, This American Life, Wait Wait Dont Tell Me, The Moth, Radiolab, and I also have a shortwave radio for picking up stations around the world.

Music: I like many genres of music, from A to Z. Here's an alphabetical sample of my collection:
Alison Krauss, Amadou & Mariam, Amy Winehouse, Antonio Vivaldi, Aretha Franklin, Art Blakey, Asian Dub Foundation, Barry White, BB King, Beastie Boys, Beethoven, Big Band, Billy Bragg, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Bossa Nova, Buena Vista Social Club, Burning Spear, Caravan Palace, Coltrane, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, David Grisman Quartet, Dire Straits, The Doors, Gillian Welch, Gogol Bordello, Gotan Project, Groundation, Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, Leonard Cohen, Lou Reed, Manu Chao, Moby, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, Norah Jones, Old Crow Medicine Show, Otis Redding, R.E.M., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rodrigo Y Gabriela, Sam Cooke, Sharon Jones And The Dap Kings, Slightly Stoopid, Stan Getz, Steely Dan, Taj Mahal, The Beatles, The Skatalites, Thievery Corporation, Toumani Diabate, U2, Vampire Weekend, Van Morrison, Wilco, Youngblood

Food: I dont eat much mammal meat, but otherwise Im up for almost anything, within bounds. I have eaten some funky things during my travels around the world, some of which I would eat again voluntarily. Japanese is my favorite cuisine, and I can tell you (privately) about the best sushi place in S.F.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
The big picture and fundamental patterns regulating the world.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Out with friends, but on weeknights Im likely to just be relaxing at home, writing, and watching The Daily Show / Colbert Report
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Why would anyone broadcast their secrets just because this box is here? Im more private than that, but Ill tell you in person.
