I am in need of better, adjectives, and the like.

My Self-Summary

I'm just your typical New Englander of Pilgrim/Chinese ancestry trying to make it big in NYC.

I like working with clay and making things. I like to do my taxes. I love brilliant ideas I've never thought of and only slightly hate brilliant ideas I wish I'd thought of. Seeing live art can be fun, seeing bad live art is exhausting.

I prefer a dive bar to a crowded club, and a backyard party to an apartment party. I’m quite good at the weekend on the couch watching entire seasons of TV shows. I’m the only person I know who likes white wine over red wine and it makes me self-conscious. I like herringbone tweed and Slate Podcasts.

I find opinions, intelligence, and maturity attractive. I love a passionate argument. Obscure knowledge is also good: my niche right now is the Julian-Claudian Dynasty.

I am more comfortable as the man behind the curtain than the big giant green head.

I am not always sure of what to do with my hands while spooning.

I am learning to live by what both SuperNanny and the Buddha say, "Stop. Think. Change."

Also: INTJ, Year of the Horse, Maternal Haplogroup K, Enneagram Type Four with a Three-Wing, and according to OKCupid- a better friend than lover to myself.

What I’m doing with my life

I've been living in Brooklyn for the last decade and lurve it.

Went to theater school to be a director and ended up a producer. More recently, I've been working in arts admin/management, save for a brief and unhealthy bout of unemployment this summer. Still thinking about what exactly I want to be doing with my life, but glad to be helping art get made.

I’m really good at

a couple chords on the ukulele, not thinking about grad school, Trivial Pursuit, playing the tambourine, wrapping presents, nonprofit accounting.

The first things people usually notice about me

Short.

Also, according to the photos I have up here, I only own 1 hat, 1 tie, 3 vests and a maroon t-shirt.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Current favorite books: A Place of One's Own, The Road, Atonement, I Claudius, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, The Song of Ice and Fire Series (geeking it out for GRRM)

Favorite movies: The Dark Crystal, LA Story, Underground, The Color Purple, Brazil.

Music: The Decemberists, Belle & Sebastian, Sufjan Stevens, Dr. Teeth & The Electric Mayhem, Beirut, Ben Folds, Joshua James. Slowly turning on to Blitzen Trapper, and Grizzly Bear. iPod Shuffle.

Favorite TV show of ALL TIME: Northern Exposure

Food: Lentils, Sushi, French Fries, and Creme Brulee.

The six things I could never do without

friends, family, ketchup, vodka, and The Strand (in small doses). I just started practicing meditation and it's quickly becoming the vital 6th.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Currently consumed with the choice between sticking to the fulltime job thing, or running away for some traveling and soul-searching.

Mostly though, I think about buying and restoring a Greek revival farmhouse. And peak oil.

On a typical Friday night I am

Likely having drinks with friends at a neighborhood bar, thinking very seriously that I need to see more art.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I have a fake chin.

You should message me if

you are or have ever been an impoverished nobleman, starving artist, or social activist.
