I am quick-witted, dependable, and laughable.

My Self-Summary

To describe yourself in a small little box seems limiting, but here we go. To quote a Green Day song, I am a walking contradiction. I am a bit of an introvert, but I love socializing and meeting new people, usually on a one-on-one basis as I usually end up a wallflower in large crowds. I am sarcastic and quick-witted, often with a barb flowing from my mouth and heading toward someone else, but almost never in a mean way. While sarcastic, I am sincere in what I do and what I say. I kid because I care and you should only be worried if I am not comfortable enough with you not to throw some jokes your way. Once I am your friend, I am there for you 100% and loyal as can be. Basically, I am like a labrador retriever that way, with less drool. I am scientific and mathematically inclined, but love social science and work in a more artistic field. I am usually pretty stoic, but love to be immature and goof around with frequent trips to Toys R Us just to look around at all the cools stuff.

In my spare time I love sitting at a coffee shop doing the crossword puzzle, card games, watching movies or some of my favorite TV shows and dragging my ass to the gym.

After looking around on here for a little while, I think I might be one of the only people around who doesn't like to camp. I grew up in the country and do appreciate nature and everything it has to provide, but why sleep on the ground when I have a nice bed?

I just moved to the Portland area (Tualatin) and now have a regular job with regular hours so I am looking to make some changes in my life and seeing what else is out there. My old job as a photojournalist kind of consumed my life, so now I am happy to find out what more there is to life besides work! Hopefully it involves meeting some amazing people and an amazing woman.

What I’m doing with my life

Living. Just started a new job that allows me to actually get out there and do more than just work. It's fan-friggin-tastic!

I’m really good at

Sarcastic comebacks. Getting better at crosswords. I am pretty decent at any sport that you might play while drinking beer like darts, pool, bowling and softball (though I don't really drink beer).

The first things people usually notice about me

My sense of humor or my courteous behavior (I will hold a door open for everyone and I believe being polite is critical for a fully functional society)

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Bowling Alone, The Areas of My Expertise by John Hodgman, and a few others. Wish I read more, just don't seem to find the time.

Movies: Office Space, Swingers, 40-year-old Virgin, Star Wars (the original not the new crap), Braveheart, Tombstone, Napoleon Dynamite, Donnie Darko and anything by the Monty Python crew.

Television: Those currently airing are The Office, Psych, 30 Rock, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, NCIS, Sportscenter, Family Guy, Scrubs and Robot Chicken. I miss Friends, Seinfeld and a few others. I also love some BBC shows like the Black Adder and my newest addiction Coupling. And thanks to the magic of DVD's, have recently discovered Arrested Development.

The six things I could never do without

My family because they are the key to life.
My friends because they mean the world to me.
My computer since many of my friends have moved away and it is the best way to keep in touch with them.
My intellect: I try to keep it sharp and always want to learn everything I can about everything.
My sense of humor because if you can't laugh at yourself, everyone else will. And really, what's the point of taking yourself too seriously anyway?
Dogs: while I don't have one, I live vicariously through my friends' dogs.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I should be doing with life. Also like to think about social norms and behaviors. Oh and I am a person, so I think about sex a lot.

On a typical Friday night I am

Good question. Hopefully going out with friends and enjoying myself.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a bastard. No really... I was born out of wedlock.

You should message me if

You are looking for someone to just chat with and get to know. I am not really expecting an automatic love connection but would like to meet some people. And if you are into hitting the golf course and playing a round.
