My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
A New Englander by birth, I spent my college years in snowy upstate New York - with a brief stint in the hot California desert.. I've been in Atlanta almost two years now.

I'm always fascinated by how things work, and always learning new things. There's a great sense of accomplishment when building something from scratch. I'm big into DIY and almost always would rather build it myself than buy it.

I love stories. Whether it's a book, a movie, a radio program, or a conversation over a cup of coffee, there is just something alluring about a good story.

I'm passionate about airplanes and aviation, and my pilot's license is something I am incredibly proud of. The overwhelming sense of joy when the wheels lift of the ground brings the biggest smile to my face.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Most days, I work as an engineer at an auto manufacturer.
Some days, I make delicious hamburgers and blog about them.
Other days, I daydream about sailing or flying around the world, or becoming an astronaut, or biking across the US. I feel such pressure to explore the world.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm always willing to try new things. I won't say no to something new and exciting. Really, it doesn't even need to be new or exciting: I'll probably want to try it.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I try not to take things too seriously, and joke about things constantly.

I'm a do-first, think about it later kind of person. When I get excited about something, I dive in head first and won't shut up about it.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books:
Recently I've been listening to a lot of audiobooks. The Martian by Andy Weir has been my absolute favorite. Some other favorite reads of mine are: Never Let Me Go, Oryx and Crake, Glasshouse, The Raw Shark Texts, and A Clockwork Orange.

Movies:
Going to the theater is always exciting. I was really moved by Ex Machina.
I love Wes Anderson and Sofia Coppola's films. Some of my other favorites are An Education, Drive, Moon, and Battle Royale.

Television:
Recently I got into Helix and Black Mirror. I also love Archer, Frisky Dingo, and Bob's Burgers. Utopia was fantastic while it lasted. Then there's of course Parks & Rec, Girls, 30 Rock, The Walking Dead and Veronica Mars.

Podcasts:
Radiolab, This American Life, Freakonomics Radio, Serial, Invisibilia, and Hardcore History

Music:
I was a DJ in college, and love finding out about new music and new artists. I hosted a local show that focused on interviews and live recording sessions. I've got a pretty eclectic taste, but I bounce between folk and electropop.

Food:
I love clam chowder and lobster. I'm not at all picky and love trying new foods. Experimenting in the kitchen is so much fun!

Every week I make one of the burgers from the cartoon Bob's Burgers. I keep a blog about it: http://www.thebobsburgerexperiment.com
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Family. I'm so grateful for everything my family has done for me.

Airplanes. It's barely been more than 100 years since the first one.

Paper. We may live in the digital age, but I prefer tangible paper.

Stories. Be it a book, a movie or just spoken, I love a good story.

Curiosity. There is so much to learn and experience in the world and in the universe.

Travel. Experiencing new people, places, and things - adventure is out there!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
One day building my own airplane.

How big the world is, and how much more of it there is for me to see.

How North Korea is a thing... not just a really good sci fi story.

What I'm doing with my life. I'm trying to learn how to stop and smell the roses, but sometimes I feel like there's so much pressure to do/see/experience that it becomes overwhelming.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Ever since curling season ended, I'm out of a Friday night routine.. so it's a tossup. What're you doing Friday night?
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm not ashamed of my love for pop music.
I mean, who doesn't sing along as loudly as possible when T. Swift comes on the radio?

I'm totally influenced by packaging design. If a product is in an awesome box, I'm more likely to buy that product. More often than not, I'm swayed by minimalism.

If you are passionate about something, anything at all. Being excited about something gives a person far more drive than anything else.
