My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Born and raised in Massachusetts, I spent my college years in upstate New York - with a brief stint in the California desert.

I like to work with my hands and create things. I'm always fascinated by how things work, and always trying to learn new things. There's a great sense of accomplishment when building something from scratch.

I love stories. Whether it's a book, a movie, a radio program, or a conversation over a cup of coffee, there is just something alluring about a good story.

I'm passionate about airplanes and aviation, and my pilot's license is something I am incredibly proud of. A bird's eye view is the best kind of view, if you ask me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Most days, I work as an engineer at an auto manufacturer.
Some days, I make delicious hamburgers and blog about them.
Other days, I daydream about sailing or flying around the world or becoming an astronaut or biking across the US.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm always willing to try new things. I won't say no to something new and exciting. Really, it doesn't even need to be new or exciting: I'll probably want to try it.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm a do-first, think about it later kind of person. When I get excited about something, I dive in head first and won't shut up about it.

I like to think I'm a rainy day bookworm...
Some favorites of mine are: Never Let Me Go, Oryx and Crake, The Raw Shark Texts, and A Clockwork Orange. I'm currently reading House of Leaves.

I love going to the movie theater, and I could get lost in Netflix.
I love Wes Anderson and Sofia Coppola's films. Some of my other favorites are An Education, Never Let Me Go, Moon, and Battle Royale.

I love it when a good sci fi show happens! Recently I got into Helix and Black Mirror. I also love Archer, and of course Bob's Burgers.

Radiolab, This American Life, Freakonomics Radio, and Serial!

I was a DJ in college, and love finding out about new music and new artists. I hosted a local show that focused on interviews and live recording sessions. I've got a pretty eclectic taste, but I bounce between folk and electropop.

I love clam chowder and lobster. I'm not at all picky and love trying new foods. Experimenting in the kitchen is so much fun!

Every week I make one of the burgers from the cartoon Bob's Burgers. I keep a blog about it:
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Family. I'm so grateful for everything my family has done for me.
Airplanes. It's barely been more than 100 years since the first.
Paper. As great as computers are, I prefer tangible things.
Stories. Be it a book, a movie or just spoken, I love a good story.
Curiosity. There is so much to learn and experience in the world.
Food. I love to try new foods, and The South is delicious!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Moving into the city. I'm much more of a city person than I thought I was, and I love Atlanta. Hmmm, now when does that lease end?

One day building my own airplane.

How big the world is, and how much more of it there is for me to see.

How North Korea is a thing... not just a really good sci fi story.

The ethical dilemma that is my addiction to the Serial podcast.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I'm a member of the Atlanta Curling Club... and league night's on Fridays. So for the rest of the season, I'll be doing that.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm not ashamed of my love for pop music.

I'm totally influenced by packaging design. If a product is in an awesome box, I'm more likely to buy that product. More often than not, I'm swayed by minimalism.
