My self-summary
I'm a very easy going, quirky, intelligent and open minded person looking to make new connections locally and all over the world.

I'm very pet friendly, love getting out and about and enjoy concerts - I'll be taking in as much of the Little Lake Music Fest as I can this year (as I do every year).
What I’m doing with my life
Working hard, or trying to anyway, and building a lasting relationship with the woman I love, and looking to make some friends online and off to try to complete the picture. You should be my friend - yes you should *stares*

My career is going well and I have a nice little place full of fuzzy and aquatic critters... I'm a computer programmer by a series of nerdy accidents in my early life, and have been as such for way longer than most people would consider reasonable. Some day I would like to be a long haul truck driver, or own a blimp transit company. No really, I would.
I’m really good at
Programming, random pointless trivia, opening pickle jars, petting critters, running (back in the day anyway... run Forrest, run), writing
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm quiet. It's pointed out to me ad nauseum - it would annoy me if it weren't a somewhat defining trait. When I do talk it's either really disjointed and nervous, or very poignant and unexpected, so I tend to surprise people either way. When I get past my own mental blocks though, I'm relatively normal, for a brooding, philosophical type.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Dune, The Martian Chronicles, Steve Jobs (biography), Animal Farm, The Catcher in the Rye

Requiem for a Dream, Braveheart, Dirty Harry, Star Wars (even the prequels), Starship Troopers, Platoon, What Dreams May Come

Star Trek, Babylon 5, Doctor Who, Rome, The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park, Big Bang Theory, The IT Crowd, basically anything nerdy. I'm working my way (slowly) through the new Battlestar Galactica right now, now that everyone has finally shut up about it. To be honest, I don't watch a lot of TV, and I'm way behind on recent shows, and haven't even heard of most of what people seem to be watching right now.
The six things I could never do without
-Pepsi (a very guilty pleasure)
-The Tragically Hip
-Master of Orion (an ancient computer game)
-Friendship (which I, unfortunately, am feeling a bit behind on right now)

Seriously, if I had all of the above, and maybe some actual food and medical supplies, I could make it through the end of civilization and be very entertained.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The meaning of lyrics, the meaning of life, the meaning of death and the meaning behind the popularity of Nikki Minaj. I also think about evolution, spirituality and sex, but that's all because I'm a nerdy, agnostic boy.
On a typical Friday night I am
If the girlfriend's in, we're trying to figure out what we might be doing - if not, I'm playing, or reading or singing old Johnny Cash or Tool songs (alcohol enhancement optional)
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
When I listed my orientation as 'straight', that's only defined so strictly when I'm in a romantic/sexual relationship with a girl (which I am now). Take that, old fashioned concepts of sexuality.
