My self-summary
Hello, I'm Russ!

I'd like to think I'm easy to talk to, so if there's anything you want to know about me or if you just want to talk, go ahead and message me. :)

Just to forewarn you, I'm pretty passionate about my interests, so I might nerdrant about some interests things we have in common lol.
What I’m doing with my life
I just graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in English ( insert Avenue Q reference here), minors in Theatre and Educational Psych. I currently work at a health insurance company, processing claims.

I've been studying piano for about 7 years now and I've been actively involved in theatre since my Junior year of High School. These are easily my favorite hobbies and passions, but they're not all I'm interested in.

I'd like to eventually do evening or weekend gigs as a pianist/accompanist. I'm still building a good repertoire so I can do this later in life. I could honestly see myself as an MD for musicals or in a small ensemble (piano and strings) or playing for cocktail parties and social gatherings. Or maybe I'll just end up playing piano for all of my friends' wedding receptions. All of those girls are bound to get married SOMEDAY.

Also, I've begun to delve into playing other keyboard instruments , especially the organ. I'm building a virtual theatre organ setup and it sounds amazing!

I have a YouTube channel, but haven't uploaded anything in forever: www.youtube.com/russ2246
I’m really good at
I don't really like the term "good", but here goes:

I am really good at making people laugh, even when they're having the crappiest of days. Laughter is the best medicine, but chocolate-related sweets are good too.

I've been playing piano for 7 years, so I guess I'm "really good"
at that. I have a lot of room for improvement. I play classical, modern, ragtime, jazz, some pop, video game music (Such as Great Fairy's Fountain), random things like the Warner Bros' Logo theme and ringtone music.

I'm a good cook in that I can follow a recipe. I make-a good Lasagna. Bibbity Boppity!

I also love baking, so if you like baked goods, especially cake or brownie related ones, then you'll enjoy my efforts to make scrumptious desserts.

I'm also good at quoting things; especially great movies or some things in pop culture. I think this comes from my many years' experience and long term relationship with Mystery Science Theater 3000.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm very relaxed, and quietly observational. I tend to take things as they come and I rarely freak out about anything. I'm also very casual in my mannerisms, but rest assured, I have a wild side.

Most of the time, people are able to spot my sense of humor within the first few minutes of conversation. My humor tends to emphasize timing and how well it's been thought-out given a shorter amount of time.

I'm incredibly passionate. I love the things I do and I put forth great efforts into achieving the best results possible.

Once people get to know me, they really begin to realize how sweet, tender, and loyal I can be. I'm a great friend and value that asset.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
BOOKS:
Favorite Books: The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Harry Potter. Many many more.

I've begun to delve into the realm of graphic novels and I'm already loving them. This space will also be updated in the near future.

Favorite Authors:Douglas Adams, Oscar Wilde, Phillip Pullman, J.K. Rowling, Stephen Chbosky, Agatha Christie, etc.

MOVIES: The Rocky Horror Picture Show, UP, V for Vendetta, Casablanca, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Clue, Stranger than Fiction, Pleasantville, Miyazaki, Anything from Pixar except Cars and Cars 2, Amelie, many many more.

SHOWS: Sherlock, Downton Abbey, Adventure Time, Game of Thrones, South Park, Mystery Science Theater 3000, Family Guy, Fawlty Towers, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Invader Zim, The Golden Girls, Will & Grace, 30 Rock, Daily Show, Colbert Report, basically anything funny :P

MUSIC:
I love classical music (Mainly the Classical and Romantic Eras). Lounge and smooth jazz is great. I can't really stand big-band Jazz for more than a few minutes. Scott Joplin, George Gershwin, and Cole Porter are legendary

I also heavily enjoy musicals and theatre in general. Classic shows to modern musicals appeal to me :)

Nonetheless, I am still into modern music, but I really like artists with talent and don't need auto-tune to be great-sounding. Sometimes a singer armed with nothing but a guitar or a piano, who has something to say, is enough to satisfy me musically :)

FOOD:
My favorite candy is Sour Patch Kids. 'Nuff said.

I eat normal food at normal times. I love beverages more than food. I don't drink most forms of alcohol yet, but I do like wine. I do love ciders, juices, water, the occasional diet soda, and the ultimate feel-good drink: An authentic chocolate malt.
The six things I could never do without
Friends, Family, a piano, laughter, the internet, life-sustaining functions
I spend a lot of time thinking about
what I should be working on next or who I haven't talked to in a while.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends, or grabbing dinner somewhere.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I hate hipsters that flock to all of the thrift stores and buy ALL the men's small sized t-shirts. Jerks.
