I'm a midwest transplant. Moved here for grad school...then I realized that wasn't quite my bag. Now I'm a freelancer, and life is pretty good. I'm a musician through and through, and I talk about music like nothing else in the world matters. (And really, does it?)

I'm deeply and intensely passionate about the people and activities in my life. I sort of live by that whole "If it's worth doing, it's worth doing well" philosophy. Of course, that's easier said than done.

That's pretty much it. There are a ton of things I'd love to tell you about myself, but this is sort of a really small space to summarize who I am as a person, isn't it?

I'm the composer and music director for an off-broadway show opening in February 2013. Other than that, I'm also a freelance composer and musician.

I don't know if I'm "really good" at anything, but I think I'm all right at playing clarinet, piano, and cello, as well as composing music. The one thing I might possibly be "really good" at is cooking. I can cook you anything.

I don't really know, I guess you'd have to ask them. But if I had to take a guess, I seem to be taller than most people around here, so maybe that. I'm a pretty funny guy, but can you "notice" a sense of humor? It's not exactly like spotting a toupée.

Books - Sampling of my latest reads. House of Leaves, The Boy Detective Fails, There But For The, Lolita, The Art of Fielding, A Short History of Nearly Everything, A Universe From Nothing. About to start either Infinite Jest or Cryptonomicon.

Music - Obviously I'm all about the classical music, being a composer and all. But I'm definitely down with a ton of other music too. Current favorites include Imagine Dragons, AWOLNATION, Eluvium, Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters and Men. I love jazz too. A night at a jazz club is a great night in my mind.

TV - Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Weeds, Dexter, Tosh.0 (my guilty pleasure), The League. There are probably a lot more, but I'm not going to bother listing them out.

My absolute favorite food is sushi, but I love to cook more than I love to go out. I pride myself a little bit in my cooking ability, at least until the smoke detector starts going off.

I'd love to say that I spend a ton of time contemplating the truly important things in life...but I think mostly I just spend that time wondering what the hell I'm doing with my life. But until I know, I'm going to spend as much time as I can thinking about how much fun I'm having.

I don't know if I have a typical Friday night. It depends on how busy I am. But if it was up to me, my typical Friday night would consist of a glass of scotch, a great cigar, and a good book. Or maybe getting drinks with friends at the local bar. Or a movie in with someone. I hope Fridays never become "typical".

I never read the End User License Agreement with iTunes...I just click accept. It will come back to haunt me one day.

You think we would get along. Or maybe if you think I'm a terrible person, and you have a burning desire to tell me. Or for any reason whatsoever. What is the point of being on this thing if you're not going to talk to people?
