My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I feel better now than I ever have before in my life.

I just moved to San Francisco on June 1st, 2014 after spending 3 years in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Before that, I was born and raised in upstate New York where I lived for most of my life.

I'm an intelligent, articulate, critical/skeptical free thinker with a sense of humor that is mostly sarcastic but also includes the occasional oh-so-witty pun.

I thrive on meeting, talking and listening to, and getting to know new people. I am comfortable and confident in social situations, which is a huge improvement over my shy awkwardness and total lack of confidence of 5-10 years ago.

I love staying physically active, especially outdoors where I enjoy many activities. Some of these include cycling, rollerblading (I know, I must be stuck in the 90s), hiking, climbing hills, playing tennis, and participating in other sports.

I enjoy learning and talking about many different topics - especially those related to science. I am also passionate about traveling, exploring and discovering new places and things.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Besides being adventurous, staying active outdoors, making friends, learning and investigating, I prefer working in nonprofit organizations. I enjoy science museums and participating in informal science education. Ask me about my current job - I'll be happy to share! I'm always trying to find ways to contribute to the world and everyone in it, and better myself at the same time.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm great at conversing with anyone, even strangers. I consider myself excellent at speaking, typing, and writing in English. I am a spelling, grammar, and punctuation perfectionist. I'll admit that I'm not perfect, but I almost always notice details. I also like to think that I'm good at arguing and debating or trying to prove a point and support my position. I'm very good at quickly finding an answer to any question that I don't already know the answer to, and verifying information in question. Thank you Internet.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
You tell me. Defined jaw line (chiseled jaw)? High cheek bones? Fit body shape? Engaging eyes? Maybe it's my confidence, or my outgoing, friendly, and positive attitude. Perhaps it's that I'm so social and talkative. Could it be my often sarcastic sense of humor? You may notice how polite, courteous, and respectful I am. Sooner or later there's no doubt that you'll realize my passion for learning new information and sharing that knowledge with others.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Some of my favorite books are any/all of those written by Carl Sagan, Richard Dawkins, and Christopher Hitchens.

I have many favorite movies covering a range of genres. Some of these include (in alphabetical order): A Beautiful Mind, Being John Malkovich, Confessions of a Dangerous Mind, Contact, Crash, Equilibrium, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Trilogy), Gladiator, Godfather (Trilogy), Goodfellas, The Green Mile, In Bruges, Inception, Inglourious Basterds, The Jacket, The Machinist, The Messenger, Midnight in Paris, Minority Report, Moon, Office Space, Pulp Fiction, The Reader, Requiem for a Dream, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List, The Shawshank Redemption, Slumdog Millionaire, Synecdoche New York, Up in the Air, and V for Vendetta. I like movies.

Some shows I enjoy include: COSMOS, The Office, 30 Rock, Seinfeld, How I Met Your Mother, Chopped (and other cooking shows), Law & Order (original, SVU, Criminal Intent), Doctor Who, and House. I also enjoy watching a variety of educational shows about science, nature, and other topics (Planet Earth, Nature, etc).

With music I am very open and will casually listen to many types, including classical. The music I usually fall back on is more modern rock/alternative - not the heavy stuff. I love just about anything with piano. Some of my favorite bands and artists include Keane, Lindsey Stirling, Mat Kearney, OneRepublic, Imagine Dragons, Snow Patrol, and Coldplay.

I eat many different types of food. Up until several years ago, I was an incredibly picky eater. Now I'll try almost anything! There are still some things I've never tried, so maybe you could introduce me to something new or exotic. The best food hands-down is bacon. How could you not agree? I am obviously not vegetarian or vegan, but I try hard to be conscious of what goes into my body. My sweet tooth does not help with this at all though.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Here's my best attempt at this:

1) Human interaction (friends, family, strangers)
2) Physical activity/exercise
3) Exposure to the outdoors/nature
4) Curiosity/questioning/learning
5) My brain and its thinking
6) The sun

Is that technically more than six? I'm not too worried about it.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Life, flight, family, space, religion, nature/outdoors, friends, travel, food, the universe, thinking, thinking about thinking, etc... I could go on and on and I'm sure you'd love it, but I'll spare you. Besides, I really don't think about thinking that much.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
I am almost always doing something on Friday night - spending time with friends, socializing out somewhere, being active outside, etc. I could also be watching a movie, learning about something, exploring and discovering new things.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Completely depends on how comfortably we interact and get along in person.

If you're atheist/agnostic/non-religious/etc or even if you're not but you don't mind talking about religion, you should message me.

If you're intelligent or at least think and like to learn new things, then we'll get along.

If you're a perfectionist in some way, especially relating to spelling and grammar, let me know.

I won't complain if you like to cook and want to cook with me.

Having some confidence in yourself is always a good thing.

Lastly, if you share any of the interests I've mentioned above, it won't hurt to send me a message and see what happens.

Send me a message. Right now. You've made it this far, so we both know that you're interested and curious. You know you want to.
