My self-summary Propose an edit
I’m cerebral. I like other cerebral folks. Thinkers, that is. You
know, people who enjoy peeling apart the layers of life
experiences, from the intensely luminous to the seemingly dim and
mundane, to derive some sort of penetrating insight into their
meaning, and with these insights ultimately construct a worldview
and greater understanding of existence. So, that sounds really
abstract and likely pretentious. In more legible, less tool-ish
terms, I’m interested in philosophy, psychology, sociology, the
arts –especially literature. Oh, that reminds me, I like people who
read.
I should disclose that I’ve been on autopilot as an insanely busy
law student for the past few years—focusing the majority of my
energy on completing daily tasks, which is a trap I never wanted to
fall into and one out of which I’d like to pull myself. I dunno,
you might need to help me do that. In any event, the inquisitive,
thoughtful person I described above is more what I aspire to be
(and used to be) rather than what I am at this point in my life.
Bet I’m not the only one who, when asked to “summarize” myself,
describes what I think I am or want to be rather than what’s true
about me at the moment. You know, one of those pesky flaws of
self-assessment.
So I’ve probably come off as taking myself and life too seriously.
Not true. Well, I don’t think so at least (see above). Really
though, I’m part seeker-of-enlightenment, and part
self-deprecating, wholly irreverent goofball who just wants to have
fun. For example, last week at a BBQ, a few (tipsy) friends and I
had more fun than anyone beyond the age of fourteen should
repeatedly hitting the cross-walk button at a nearby traffic light,
which immediately turned the traffic light yellow, and pissing off
drivers who were forced to stop even though we weren’t crossing.
Some call that immature, I call it “youthful spirit.” When it comes
to humor, in addition to “youthful” goofiness, I enjoy wry sarcasm
and subtle wit. I also appreciate dark humor (check out the snowman
in my photos for an example).
Eek, this is getting long. What other defining characteristics can
I squeeze in here? Oh, I love being active. I’m a runner, and I
will run until my legs give out or I die—whichever comes first. I
LOVE to dance. I love the outdoors. I love the ocean and
watersports.
Alright, I think that’s enough.

Listening. I'm not one of those people who, during conversation,
merely waits to speak. I'm actually interested in what other people
have to say. This may seem unremarkable, but it's rarer than some
may think.

love; hope; ideas; great literature; running; my music collection;

More than six, I realize (I'm actually quite good at math), but
rules are made to be broken.
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
How people come to grips with an orderless world full of
randomly-occurring tragedy. It bewilders me.
