Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Basically I'm Forrest Gump. I've played trumpet at Carnegie Hall,
found myself in a room with $400B in gold bars, served as a jury
consultant, been in the NBA draft, was sent by the government to
conduct "research" in China, and now am a professor of financial
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I finished up the last of my schooling in the spring. Since I did
that for the last 25 years of my life, I decided that the best
option was to stay in the academic bubble and become a professor. I
do research in financial mathematics, which means I may or may not
be an aspiring villain in a James Bond movie.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Doing math (but not arithmetic). I also like to think I am good at
running long distances (slowly). I was hoping to do my first
marathon in the spring, but for the 3rd time I injured myself and
will postpone it another few months.
I used to be really good at minesweeper--slowly regaining my former

Books: Currently taking a short break from reading a history of the
atomic bomb - it is fascinating but an extremely dense read - to
read the 5th book in A Song of Ice and Fire series so that I can be
all caught up in the books before the next season starts. In
general I read historical fiction, sci-fi, fantasy, and nonfiction
about early NASA or financial crises. Some favorite series are: A
Song of Ice and Fire, Masters of Rome (great series about Ancient
Rome), and the Foundation trilogy (got to love Asimov).
Movies: The Godfather (1 and 2), Star Wars (original trilogy), Lord
of the Rings, Rocky (1-4 but I marathon all 6 annually), Dodgeball,
basically anything by Pixar
Shows: Doctor Who, Firefly, Better Off Ted, Community, Parks and
Recreation, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad
Food: I will eat pretty much anything except coconut. Everything
else is good though.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In the order they popped into my head:
1. A place to walk/run
3. News source
6. Library card
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Next trip I'm taking. Going to both the East and West coast this
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I had my 15 minutes of fame by being in the NBA draft. Technically
I am currently a free agent.
I recently grew my beard again. Not really private but figured I
should mention it.
