My self-summary
I'm from Indiana, with some serious interludes in France, Germany, and DC, though I currently live in my own head (rent free, I might add). Many people in NYC haven't met anyone from Indiana, but no one's perfect, so I don't hold it against them. I like to surround myself with people and things that elevate and inspire me, and especially people who invite me to play bocce ball, or squash, or show me a new magazine, or teach me stuff, or introduce me to amazing stupendous things like the In our time podcast with Melvin Bragg, or olive oil gelato, which is, yes, surprisingly delicious, or tell me about a book I must read or movie I must watch or a place I have to go to (the more ancient the better, this includes places with stalactites). These are all kind of different ways of saying the same thing, which is, namely, without further ado, gluttony about life. PS. I learned the world sapiosexuality recently. I think I'm that, within reason.
What I’m doing with my life
professor of philosophy, microventurist, student of the law, coiner of neologisms. Engaged in important quests.
I’m really good at
making people feel comfortable; sometimes the opposite. catching flying objects; making objects fall, forcing me to develop the former talent. Quoting stuff at the right time; quoting stuff at the wrong time. Consistency.
The first things people usually notice about me
woah, that guy's got a lot of energy.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
books: plato, emerson, shakespeare, Cormac McCarthy, Tocqueville, and the list goes, in twelve point font, Helvetica, for about three metric yards.
Movies: Malick, Almodovar, Woody Allen, Carné.
Food: omnivore, who experiences the rare dilemma.
The six things I could never do without
(Why does a list of six things feel like I'm somehow in some psychological experiment that shows all people follow rules?)

the exotic
chocolate (with the former serving as an explanatory adjective here)
inspiration
discovery
big buildings
the smell of fall
I spend a lot of time thinking about
whether it was Col. Mustard in the library with a hefty tomb of obscuranta, or just a plain old revolver.
On a typical Friday night I am
glad it is a Friday night. What would change if the question were? On a typical Tuesday at 5 pm, I think...? Or even better yet. "My motto is...." Hmm. Ok so. Typical tuesday at 5 (in winter) I think: damn, it's dark already, should I run to the gym in the cold or just use random objects around the house as exercise media and act like I'm on ESPN world's strongest man by lifting up tables and bicycles. And my motto...family secret.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I lent Col. Mustard the large book of obscuranta.
