My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I can think of no better date than a quiet, comfy, skill exchange. Everyone involved gets to improve themselves, and passions are shown off. I love it.

I've been told that the above says a lot about me as a person.

I'm Dave, and I'm a nerd-of-most-trades. I build things, I make things work, I ensure that things stay working, and I put things back together if they break.

I take pictures, build things, and pick locks for fun.

I tweet as @syn, and blog about about geeky crap, feminism, politics, caffeine, and property minimisation, at blog.dave.io.

I am generally fuelled by a mixture of whimsy, mischief, and caffeine.

My party trick is making the sound of water being poured into a glass with my tongue.

Tag cloud, for the search-inclined:
Identity: white, straight, cis, male
Personal: geek, engineer, lockpicker, kinky, true switch, sci-fi fan, writer, blogger, coder, photographer
Politics: intersectional feminist, socialist, left-wing, liberal, co-operative, rationalist.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Engineering and Internets. Lots of Internets.

Going into the dog park.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Things that depend on semiconductors.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm tall, I've got long blonde hair and I've got metal in me. I get overexcited about things that everyone else seems to find mundane. I adore ill-advised 4am adventures.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Books - anything by Neal Stephenson or Robert Rankin gets my brain-meats juicy. I should probably like William Gibson - but, to my eternal shame, his writing style annoys the crap out of me. I also love to slurp up textbooks, simply because I really enjoy knowing stuff. And, most importantly, not 50 Shades of Grey. Awful, horrible, downright rapey book.

Movies & TV - sci-fi, fantasy and horror are my genres of choice - more sci-fi than fantasy, though. I love anything that tries to mindfuck the viewer, especially if time travel or alternative universes are involved. I think, after about 30 viewings, that I've finally got a handle on most of what happens in Primer.

Music - EBM, industrial, some metal and old-school hip-hop. Chap-hop, particularly Mr. B and Elemental, is a guilty pleasure too.

Food - I'm completely useless when presented with anything spicy. Other than that, I'm usually up for it.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

Activism
Liberalism

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Usually at home; working on code, writing, or stuck in a Wikipedia loop.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I'm not really a very private person when it comes to what I do and what I like. The really personal stuff - well, that you'll get to know as you get to know me.

...we have stuff in common. Or even if we don't, for that matter - I love a good debate, as long as it doesn't turn personal.
