Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Originally from Boston, I've returned to Nebraska July (2011) to be
closer to my daughters (two pf them). I used to be in the Air Force
which is what brought me out to Nebraska in the first place. I'm
not sure if I will every fully get used to Nebraska but I'm wiling
to give it a try. Boston will always be "home" to me but I'm
learning to find the pleasures Nebraska can offer.
Some of my friends have tried to help me fill this "about me"
section out.... they say that I'll get more people looking at my
profile. I guess the problem I have is that I don't want just
"anyone" looking at my profile -- doesn't seem like much use if
they look but when you get to talk you discover there isn't any
So, to finally just try something new, here it is. I'm a geek, I'm
a mechanic, I'm a technology nut, and I'm a nature lover.
I love going for hikes in the woods (or in general), taking scenic
runs on my motorcycle, getting my hands dirty with my engine, or
keeping my mind sharp working with my computer systems.
I enjoy music, movies, and (when I can) reading. My tastes vary
from Classical to Rock to Techno to Metal (Beatles, Ozzy, etc). I
like action movies... comedies... and things in between. I like
reading (don't do it as much as I'd like -- but I still enjoy it).
I love camping and being outdoors. Going to the White Mountains is
by far one of my absolute favorite things to do -- as well as
photography (which the two go together quite well).
A lot of information in there in a relative short space... sorry if
it jumps around a bit. Just trying to get as much out as I can and
hopefully some of it catches your eye.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Mostly working. I lucked out about a year ago when I came upon the
job I have; I enjoy doing what I do which makes going to work each
day not feel like a chore.
In my spare time I've been learning new skills (for work) as well
as trying to "get out there" and enjoy life.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
"Jack of all trades, master of none" - Air Force motto that has fit
me rather nicely. (OK, maybe I've mastered a few things)
I try to be good at most things I do... I can cook, I can fix most
things on my car, I can resolve most computer troubles (I hope so
as that is a major part of my job)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My eyes.... They tend to change color with my mood but in general
remain a brilliant blue color that seems to mesmerize people (or so
I'm told anyway).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Snow Crash, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Pendragon
Cycle (Taliesin, Merlin, Arthur), Star Wars - Extended Universe
Stuff, Myth Adventures... Starting to try to read some of the
"classics" like Count of Monte Cristo, Lord of the Rings, etc.
Though lately a lot of my "latest reads" have been certification
books for work.
Movies: The Professional, Star Wars, Count of Monte Cristo, Pixar
Stuff, Office Space, any Muppet movie, Monty Python and the Holy
Grail, Army of Darkness
Shows: Futurama, Family Guy, Farscape, Battlestar Galactica (newer
series) (I've been known to enjoy the Law and Order/NCIS type shows
too, but shhh)
Music: Beatles, Freezepop, Black Label Society (Yeah, I have a wide
range of musical tastes), XTC, They Might Be Giants
Food: Sushi, Steak/Potatoes (and most things in between)... I'll
try just about anything -- unless its moving on my plate, then I'll
have to put it in the consideration pile
Games: I do enjoy relaxing a bit with some various games. Video as
well as card and board games. Some of my favorites are Steve
Jackson games, Skyrim, Talisman, etc
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
In no particular order:
- Cell Phone
- Hiking Shoes
- Mountains near me (yes, this was very difficult to give up having
moved here from New England -- however, I take comfort in knowing
that the "Rockies" are 'only' a 9 hour drive)
... OK, you get five for now. The first two are mostly because I
like to know I can be in touch with my friends/family
whenever/wherever. The last three because I love to go out on road
trips and hike/camp in the mountains.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
World peace. (anyone buying that one? No? Damn)
Honestly, it would seem hiking/camping in the White Mountains is
quite often on my mind. Between that and my future - I try to keep
a mild perspective on my future but for the most part I like to let
things happen as they come (though, obviously, I do try to maintain
events which will improve my future).
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Depends on the season. I try to keep myself busy but on a Friday
night I will generally be trying to find a way to decompress from
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
One on one I'm a pretty open book. If you ask me something I'm
likely to be extremely honest with you. That said, I'm not as
inclined to publicly announce something private about me just yet.
(I gotta keep some intrigue).
You should message me if
