My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Like all wizards, I am power mad and socially awkward. Like most wizards, I am introverted and occasionally need time away from people to recharge. Unlike most wizards, I don't look down on non-wizards as lesser. Like all humans, I am at my best when I have the encouragement of someone who I love and respect. Especially if it is reciprocated.

Some recent experiences have rekindled in me a strong desire to fulfill my potential. I also have a huge amount of love and devotion to offer, and I'm revamping my profile in hopes of finding someone who can receive it and return their own.

I can also be kind of oblivious, missing subtle hints like being invited up to a woman's room after she spent the whole evening discussing her sexuality. If you want something to do with me, and you don't get a response to your hints, try stating it with directness. Don't be afraid, I won't judge you harshly.

What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Improving the world in all the small ways that I am able.

Striving to enlarge my capacity to improve the world

Learning to cook. Share your favorite recipe?

Learning to recognize the worth of my skills and talents

I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Learning, listening, caring for others.

Facilitating communication.

Worrying, unintentional hyperverbosity, brevity, insomnia.

Computers, internets, programming/wizardry, linguistics.

The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
(1) My long hair.

(2) My reserved disposition in large social gatherings.

(3) My gentle nature.

(4) My eyes change colors depending on mood and lighting. (No, really. Mostly just between blue and green, though.)

Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
(Books) It's hard to choose... so I'll list a few
The Riverrun Trilogy, Pern, Books of the Cataclysm, Belgariad & Mallorean, His Dark Materials, Conqueror's Trilogy (by Timothy Zahn), Sabriel, Foundation, Wizard of Earthsea, Wrinkle in Time, Mercedes Lackey (Who I like to think of as the longest running fantasy series to date.)
Ordinary People, Brave New World, 1984, Darwinia, Evolution's Shore, Rider at the Gate, The Dispossessed, The Left Hand of Darkness.

(Movies) Even harder to choose here...
Life as a House, Seven Samurai, Rashomon, Perfect Blue, Boogiepop and Others, Amelie, Monty Python & The Holy Grail, Donnie Darko

(Shows) I tend to enjoy genre shows, comedies, and just about anything with continuity. Babylon 5, Farscape, Fringe, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and The Wire are all upstanding examples of the things that I like from TV. For things that are currently on, Game of Thrones is the best by far, then I'm making do on sci-fi with Warehouse 13 and Defiance.
I used to be hugely into anime as well, did translation work for an online fansubbing group for a few years after high school. Ask me about it.

(Music) My tastes are extremely eclectic, from classical symphonies to glitch, chiptunes, and noise rock.
I'm going to list some of the artists that I think may provide common ground for discussion: They Might Be Giants, Guster, Einstürzende Neubauten, Scudelia Electro, Jason Webley, Carbon Leaf, Polysics, David & the Citizens, Orange Pekoe, Alex Sprout Guy AKA Led To Sea. Super bonus points for Anamanaguchi or Crashfaster.

(Food) Macaroni & Cheese with jalapeno jack or habanero cheddar as the cheese. Aside from that, I like Italian, Chinese, Indian, Thai, pizza, burgers, etc...

(Computer games) The Void, Planescape: Torment, Rogue Legacy, Eversion, Half-Life series, Portal series.

(Board games) Space Alert, Twilight Imperium, Mage Knight, Arkham Horror, Power Grid, Pandemic, Dominion, Cards Against Humanity. No Munchkin, please.
The six things I could never do without

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
On a typical Friday night I am

Wishing this question asked about Wednesday nights when I am usually out with friends playing board games
The most private thing I’m willing to admit

If not for my first dog, I would probably never have learned how to express love or connect to people.

I don't really have a privacy filter for things that I'm willing to admit to complete strangers.

... you've made it to this line of my profile. I'm always in the market for new contacts. I'm bad at selling myself, but I've only had positive feedback from people who've taken the time to get to know me.
