I have a decent career-building job here in Gainesville so it looks like I will be living here for the foreseeable future, which is fine, but I can't go it alone. Maybe OkCupid can help me with that. Well, it can't hurt right?

I'm not a sophisticated person and I'm not impressed with the pseudo-intellectual crowd in this town. I don't pretend to enjoy art museums or expensive wine. I do like going out to eat, going for drinks sometimes (though not at clubs), watching movies, doing outdoor activities, or having a night in.

Last year I took up gardening as a hobby and it's been enjoyable so far. It is amazing how much produce can grow from a small space, much more than I need. Of course, it is much more about the growing than the eating. Also, I have a very spoiled cat who is basically like a son to me.

Now I'll tell you about who you I am interested in. I don't have a detailed laundry list of specifics, only generalities:

She should be nice, smart, and emotionally stable with a sense of humor. She should be working, going to college, or otherwise doing something with her life. I'm not looking for someone who's a hardcore partier, but if she can enjoy both going out to a bar for a few drinks and staying home with a movie then we might work out. She will have to put up with my dorky sense of humor. After all that it's a matter of chemistry!

Working full-time in a professional position and going to school full-time for a second Bachelor's.

Almost everything. It is easier to list the few things I'm not good at: Ordering coffee at Starbucks, sports involving catching or throwing, and getting dates (obviously, I'm here).

I cannot choose between my dashing good looks and infectious charm.

Seriously, I don't know what people notice first. But I do think I look good and sometimes manage to be charming.

Books: Mostly I read textbooks these days.

Movies: comedies, dramas, thrillers

Music: Very eclectic mix. Classical can give me a peak experience, metal can make me move, pop can induce vomiting, jazz can cool the nerves.

Food: YES PLEASE!

I don't really expect OkCupid to be much use to me. I've been here for 6 months with a 0% success rate. Success is measured by my status changing from "single" to anything else. In fact, OkCupid has resulted in exactly 0 dates. I don't even get how I can fail at online dating, but either you or I have unrealistic expectations.

I thought about deleting my account but, damn, so many questions and quizzes! All that effort to reach 70% complete!

Sooooooo anyways, this IS a dating site and that's why I'm here. I'm not shy about the idea of meeting someone from here "in real life." This does not mean I am going to meet just anyone, however.
