My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
If I had to be defined wholly by my occupation, I guess I'd be ok with that. I'm lucky, in that sense. I'm a teacher, of many things, to many people. I've taught 6 year olds and 60 year olds, and many ages in between. I've changed lives in small and big ways. I'm always trying to find ways to make the places and people around me better.

I freelance as a web developer and have started my own non profit. In the last two semesters (roughly 8 months), we fed about 600 starving college students, with the capacity to feed 600 more. I'm also on the ground floor of a couple of different tech start ups, which could, in the next 10 years, be real game changers.

I've also been doing martial arts for the last 11 years. I teach it, along with some free self defense seminars on various campuses. It's a way for me to encourage and inspire others to be healthy and to have discipline and fun.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I want to always teach. I think that's (significantly) different than, "I always want to teach."

I'm prepping for a PhD program, so that's my near future. Right now, I'm running two non profits: one to feed people, another to educate them.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Empathy. I think that's a necessary skill in my fields. I've also gotten pretty good at defusing a situation with properly timed smile or wink.

People also say I'm incredibly patient.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
eloquence, biceps, calves

Once, I was sitting on a pier on the Charles River, making paper boats to float down the water. A stranger asked me about it and I showed her how to make one. Her response? "wow, you'd make a great teacher"

Poetry: Ferlinghetti, O'Hara, WCW, Milosz, Szymborska

I've been reading tons of non fiction lately, both to prep for my PhD and to gain a broader understanding of our precedence.

I watch a lot of drama!

Movies / Music: Here's where I drop the pop culture ball. I mean, I /watch/ movies and /listen/ to music, but ask me to rank them and I'll probably list them randomly.

Food: I love everything. Well, everything I'm not allergic to.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. somewhere to write
2. my kitten (really, he's a cat by now)

... ... that's about it, really. I could do without everything else.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
who I eventually want to be. what it takes to get me from where I am to that over there.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
having drinks at a quiet bar with a friend
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
sometimes, sometimes ... sometimes I listen to Taylor Swift.
