I'm a teacher, poet, activist. I'm wildly ambitious, patient, and
I'm teaching First Year Seminar in a high school, college prep in
Rikers Island, and Taekwondo in a few colleges around the area. I'm
passionate about civil service, run a non profit fighting against
hunger, and want to pursue a PhD in comparative linguistics.
a correctional officer once told me that she would never want to
have my job; she'd never have the patience.
I have two cats -- one is a rescue (it was 10 degrees outside in
February and she was shivering) and the other is her son (I've had
him since he was born).
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I want to always teach.
Language is important to me, for so many reasons. So I'm in the
process of learning Korean, then perhaps Polish, then German. I
think the culmination is a PhD in comparative linguistics.
I'm trying to make the best of every hour, of every day.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I never imagined I'd become this kind of person but I use humor, a
flash of smile, and a wink to defuse situations. It's hard to argue

Once, I was sitting on a pier on the Charles River, making paper

important in my home, so I never really learned how to appreciate
Food: I love just about everything. Lately, I've been trying a
mostly vegetarian diet.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1) the people and pets that are important to me
2) books, both to read from and write in
3) GPS, because honestly ...
4) a laptop to work on
5) a sport or martial art to soak up the extra energy
6) goals or projects to be passionate about

Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
On a typical Friday night I am

if I have work to finish up, I'll be finishing up work. if a friend
