I am clever, kind, and multi-talented.

My Self-Summary

I am brainy. I like to have conversations about politics, books, art, music, history, geography, linguistics, TV & film (current and classic, good and bad), food, current events, pop culture—virtually anything. I am equally likely to make a joke about Steve Urkel or America's boycott of the 1980 Olympics or R. Kelly or the fact that 'marathon' is actually Greek for 'fennel'. I am not obnoxious or arrogant, I promise.

I am quick-witted. I love laughing, and making other people laugh. I tell a lot of incredibly inappropriate jokes, but I know when to keep them to myself.

I ride my bike a lot, and love riding my bike, but I'm not a douche about it.

I love to dance. LOVE.

I am the type of person who is theoretically bothered by the fact that there are cracks in the sidewalk that I step over every day (you know, like breaking my mom's back), but not actually bothered enough to alter my gait to correct the situation. This is either proof that I am still sane, or that I merely lack initiative.

I'm very imaginative, and a pretty big chunk of my brain is still devoted to childlike whimsy. I don't know why I picked my name—I had to pick something on the spot and I figured a grad school for puppies sounded like a pretty fun place to be so I went with it. For the record, I was picturing some sort of humanities or theoretical sciences program, not a puppy law school or puppy med school.

What I’m doing with my life

having fun. traveling a LOT. working on music. learning. dancing. staying up past my bedtime. making friends.

I’m really good at

remembering things
making records (as in phonograph, not land speed)
having good taste
being funny
cooking
navigating
falling over like a big clumsy doofus
making all of the above look easy

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm funny. ha.
I'm pretty darn bright.
I've got nice peepers.
I'm probably wearing something either really really nice or really really stupid. Or both.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I like dance music (house, techno, juke, reggae / dancehall, dubstep, jungle, cumbia, merengue, etc.), but also punk & post-punk, synth-pop, corny top 40 R&B, pre-'60s rock music, older country, calypso, whatever. I find people who say "I like everything but country" to be a) terribly irksome and b) often lying.
I prefer New Order to Joy Division.

in terms of books, I tend to read a lot of humor and non-fiction. I loathe Ayn Rand, and usually find people who like her to be insufferable and childish.

my fave movies are: twilight of the ice nymphs, good fellas, pootie tang, M, raising arizona, dr. strangelove, being john malkovich, the thin blue line, waiting for guffman, jackie brown, paris is burning, pee wee's big adventure, the bicycle thief, and a bunch of others.

I like good food. real things made from real ingredients that come from real places. This is not to say that I am some sort of health food type—I LOVE junk food. I'd just prefer some home-baked brownies or high-end ice cream to something with High Fructose Corn Syrup and fake strawberry flavoring in it. I'm willing to make an exception for fake banana.

The six things I could never do without

music
intelligent conversation
root beer (or better yet, sarsaparilla)
the movies
my bicycle (or, failing that, a cheap and well-maintained train system)
friends

The six things I could totally do without:
People who yell at their children in public
Ketchup
Lars Von Trier
Machismo
People who wear a bow tie in lieu of having a real personality (read: Young Republicans)
Negativity

I spend a lot of time thinking about

music
what to eat
obnoxious nerdy nonsense
travel
time travel

On a typical Friday night I am

At a party with friends.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

get to know me first, you vultures

You should message me if

You're smart. Like, intimidatingly smart. And well-read. And very into music, film, art, culture, history, food, etc., but not pretentious about it. And pretty. And hilarious. And nice.
I know it's an awful lot to ask for, but I'm pretty rad so I'm willing to hold out hope.
